I think there are a lot of gamers out there with Ipaqs who don't want extraneous 3-D graphics and action games. What is wrong with games that would be more suited to the platform. Like strategy (No, RTS is not real strategy) or RPGS?
Somebody started working on a freeciv port, but I think it has been abandoned. Thats too bad. I can't think of many games more suited to the Ipaq than Civ.
Anyhow.. I just think all this Ipaq gaming development is going in the wrong direction. Someone should port dos to this thing (with VGA support) then we could play all kinds of good non 3d games at 320x200.
Its not. True liberalism does not have a voice in nationally broadcast news. Maybe its not that big a deal, we probabaly should have the Conservative Pit that is Fox News either.
CNN, as well as MSNBC, seem pretty centrist to me.
yeah, that was my problem with futuristic games too.
In civ, I know where I am when one guy has a musketeer and another is carrying an Ak-47, or that a mountain is less hospitable then a grassland.
In those future games, you get a ray gun of blasting, and then have to look on the chart to see if its better than the ray gun of burning.
To each his own, I guess...
By the way, you don't but a windows box because it is the best for games. You buy a windows box because the monopolists in Redmond have made sure that their platform is the most profitable one, though I must say it is the lowest in quality. I must concede that there are far more games for Windows than MacOS, OSX, or Linux, but quantity does not necessarily lead to quality.
Really now, just post your text to Usenet or Gnutella and it'll get distributed across a vast network of computers and output to every kind of medium from hard disks, CDs, tapes, flash memory, etc.. Unless all the computers in the world are destroyed I would still think that someone would be able to load up a picture of that goatsex guy while playing Nsync's latest hits in mp3 format from 1999 well into the next millennium.
Wouldnt someone have to download it first? And random multiple very similiar news shots of a fairly mundane event seem not as likely to propagate as N'Sync (unfortunately).
But for all the hopefuls out there, I wouldn't expect a lot of jobs like this popping up in America anytime soon. I think lawsuits would slap a person doing this kind of work down quick. People don't like to be embarassed, and Americans like to sue.
wow, I searched for both on both engines, and googles results were crazy better. I should have figured. The only things I still use AV for anymore is
-Babelfish
-phrases, (like a song lyric) in quotes on av seem to produce very relevant results. There is probably a way to make google do this, but altavistas is intuitive and works just fine.
As for the adult customers, these were the same people who bought Deer Hunter and Myst in droves.
True true, most wal-mart shoppers are not the true gamers. What you have to remember though is, they are the people buying, and like you said, in DROVES. (As I recall, myst is the greatest selling game of all time, and I think Deer Hunter sold best its year) They will decide the console wars, because they have the spending power. So in a discussion over which will be more popular, I think the guy at wal mart is quite justified in touting the gamecube.
Now, as to what will be more popular with gamers.....

Ocarina of time actually kind of overwhelmed me. You see, I really think it did let you run around randomly and hit things with your hookshot. Thing is, on the SNES, you kind of found out where not to go, cause there would be a rock in the way or something. On N64, i just kept wandering... I couldn't enjoy it though, cause Navi was always in your ear, and i really kinda felt like I was getting lost.
actually, I know plenty of 18-30 year olds who don't have that much cash and would be thrilled to have a game console/DVD combo. So it is a concern for some of us.

Even in a pretty strict sense, how is Final Fantasy not an RPG, as far and Computer/Video Game genres are concerned? I realize its not quite D&D, but if FF isn't RPG, what Nintendo games have been? Ultima? Dragon Warrior? They are like the same thing. Enlighten Me.

Hmm.. sounds all fine and good for the guy who has few skills, except we live in a capitalist society where the rich would be quite happy to take more skilled workers and reduce their wage, knowing that they will have to take it, or lose their job. Thus a current minimum wage job drops below that, the worker has to suck up and take it, the rich get richer, etc.

Man, I miss CTV. We used to get that here in North Dakota, and for some reason it showed all the syndicated shows I wanted to see at the proper times.
What? They do their job well, 24-hours of sports a day. Better than MTV, which shows maybe 4 hours of Music a day.

Except 8 hours later than 8 pm is 4 am, not 3am.
That's funny, People!
Yeesh...
you bought an album?

more than you think
Umm, why is Sega making a controller for a Nintendo console. Also, it says ASCII on the controller.
Because they have been relegated to such, they are no longer producing their own consoles.
l'chaim!
Lets not forget vending machines that sell used panties from japanese girls. They could have sent us those along with a shipment of quality RPGs.

Nintendo.. is in Redmond too.
c'mon.. this was funny.. mod it up.
just curious... I don't doubt you one bit, but how did the big backbone providers protect themselves?
