Don't forget GM. I've actually seen a few of their electric cars driving around Atlanta. As far as I know, they haven't pulled the plug on electric cars yet.
The problem with RIOs is that they use proprietary memory expansion modules. You want more space, you buy RIO's memory. I've also read that RIO doesn't have the clearest sound in the world, in comparison to other portables. I have a nomadIIc from creative and love it. It's light, can accept standard memory, works fine w/ Linux, and has great battery life. I'd say, go with that.
I agree. I was planning on buying a phone after the upgrade, but due to car troubles I had to buy one on Monday...I sure hope it isn't already obsolete.
I have family working for AT&T wireless. They upgraded part of their system to 3G, but not all. For example, Atlanta is now a 3G/GSM platform, but nt everywhere yet.
I think that if you'd try to find hard evidence of this claim, you'll find that most of the patch flow goes the other direction. I can't prove that, but I don't believe that one can prove the above statement either.
1- Yes, Limbo uses gcc3 also. 2- Mandrake WAS based off of RedHat 3+ years ago...it IS NOT now, nor has it been for quite some time. Mandrake and Redhat have completely different production cycles. When will Mandrake get out from the stigma that they started off based on RH?
I don't believe that most of the people here complaining about the move to gcc3 would be doing some if it were some other distribution in question. For some reason, a lot of people spend their time looking for reasons to gripe about Mandrake. Open your eyes a bit and you'll see that Mandrake is just pushing other distributions to finally making the move.
If you look at the most recent beta directory on the RedHat FTP server limbo, you'll notice that RH is making the move to gcc3 too. So, you people that are against making the move to gcc3, for whatever your reason, you're going to start to run out of distributions that you can use pretty soon. In the mean-time, stop whining.
Install the official JDK, I'm pretty sure that'll still work. I know for a fact that the IBM jdk for linux works w/ gcc 3.x.
What is so imperative about going to gcc 3.1 that you have to break java?
The fact that it has better c++ support, produces more highly optimized code, and everyone will be moved to it soon anyways. There's no good reason, IMHO, not to switch to gcc3.x....including java...and I'm a java developer by trade.
For the average user, if there is a choice to upgrade to the newest Windows or buy Lindows, both for around $100, I'm sorry, but they are going to choose M$. $100 is too steep for what they are trying to achieve, IMHO. I think Lindows is a great idea and shows potential, but for the price tag, I doubt home users will go for it.
I have a hard time convincing people to watch it with me because it takes so much dedication, but I think "The Stand" is a great option for marathon TV.
But ripping isn't illegal if done correctly. Ripping mp3s from CDs is covered under the same laws as making mix tapes. I like to take my favorite CDs and put them into the mix together, which is just fine. It's no different than me copying CD tracks to a cassette tape and just as legal.
The irony of all this is this. They want to stop people from turning the tracks into mp3s by making the CD unplayable in many systems. Well it's easy to software correct for this to rip mp3s, which will then become the answer for people with older cd-players that can't handle the cds. Now the people that want the CD but can't play it are forced to download the mp3 or tape the songs off the radio. All Universal is actually doing is encouraging the trading of mp3s to the people who can't play the CDs on their own gear, so they are encouraging exactly what they want to stop.
It makes me happy to read about another Mandrake-based cluster. I was starting to think that I was one of the only people in the world to take advantage of Mandrake's optimizations and superior (IMHO) distribution. I just finished building a 16+1 node Athlon 1.33Ghz, Mandrake-based beowulf cluster. Granted, we didn't make the Top500 w/ just 16 nodes, but it's fun none-the-less.
So, would the person who wrote the e-mail quoted in this article have written the Wright Brothers too for inventing the airplane if they were still alive?
I think it's funny that the same law makers that claim that restricting guns would mean that only the criminals would have them are now supporting restrictions on encryption. Do they really think that this would not have happened or that intelligence officials would have known about the attacks if the Government had their magical back door? I'll still be installing back-doorless encryption on my box, US law or no, and I assure you that foreign terrorists will too.
"instant messaging will not take off until users gain the ability to communicate between networks and companies."
How many millions of users on each of the major IM networks and it still hasn't "taken off." Maybe not within businesses, but to say it hasn't taken off is insane. However, let's work on this need to run multiple clients at the same time.....standards plz.
I may just be an idiot, but isn't Transmeta required by the GPL (Linus on payroll or no) to release their changes? Their releasing Midori Linux didn't come as a surprise to me b/c I was under the impression that they are required to do so. Do I have the details of the license wrong?
Lost: 1 Bill of Rights.
If found, please return to Washington, DC, USA.
Thank you.
Funny, the patriot act doesnt sound very patriotic.

Agreed. I should have pointed that out in my comment...I think I may have in another comment branch.

I agree, if somebody doesn't step up and start using 3.x, we'll probably all be stuck 2.9x forever. Thank you Mandrake (and Gentoo).
Lol! Nice Thinking.

Come on now people! Do you have nothing better to do than make up stuff like this?

Good call. Maybe he's planning on chaning that to "Living free kills"
Because to American lawmakers...'if it's not American....IT'S CRAP!'
