And I can remember when it used to be such fun to read. They seem to have run out of decent material about 2 years ago, and it's been downhill all the way.
From the end of the article:"Ms. Peters has been weighing arguments by copyright holders who contend they will have no incentive to produce digital material without the assurance of such protection..."
That's fine by me, if allowing fair use is such a problem to the studios, let them go back to releasing movies on VCR.
In my current job, I'm using AIX and Websphere (though not EJBs). I've not found any problems with Websphere at all, it was simply a matter of configuring it and letting it run. I was wondering what problems people had encountered with it which made it a bad choice ?
Well, that's OK then. If they believe "Hackers" was accurate, then they'll be on the lookout for a self aware computer virus called Leonardo da Vinci, which asks for five million dollars.
In the article it mentions that there are still 100 components to go before the station is considered complete. Does anybody have a link to a launch schedule, or details about what the remaining components are ?
Surely if your rivals are capable enough to steal your technology, then they must have the means to reverse engineer your products in different ways, other than by looking at source code to drivers. Conversly, if they need to see the source code to figure out how your devices work, then they are probably not capable of putting your technology to good use.
I would think that right now, Corel needs all the help it could get in rebuilding its battered image. One way I could see this being done would be to completely open source WordPerfect, a la Mozilla.
Think about it, Corel would get a lot of kudos from the open source community, they could quickly have the best word processor for Linux and other (non MS) platforms and then they could start edging back in to the Windows market.
Well, you can run Linux under windows (UMSDOS ??), so in theory you should be able to run WINE on that, and yes, then you could run WINE under Windoze.
Will they be opening a curry house up there ? There's a distinct lack of them in that part of the solar system. I was out with a few friends last Friday in the Tycho Crater Pub, and we couldn't find a chicken balti anywhere.
I don't suppose you thought to ask Linus, but I would be very interested to know how well these machines perform running Linux as compared to say, N/T. Was anything mentioned along these lines ?
AFAICS, the M17 milestone hasn't been released yet. Perhaps you are getting confused with the M17 *nightlies*.
In other words, M16 has been released, the nightlies are now M17, once M17 milestone has been released, the nightlies will be M18, until M18 milestone is released, etc

Actually, Americans *are* foreigners.
At least to 96% of the world's population.
MoonOS ?
Yeah, GTK swing would be sweet.

You can choose from dozens of radio stations.
When it prompts you to download the .pls file, download it, and view it.
Then pass the url you see into xmms.
Enjoy !
Mind you if we all went to the same sites, one after the other...nah never mind.
In fact, I might even develop a version myself that runs under Curses...
Excuse me, but I thought that people buying Microsoft trash was their major source of revenue...

8 hours ?? That's pretty awful. My Thinkpad running Linux can last over 48 hours in sleep mode.
