    We were running a Scrum project to replace a very poorly designed software system. The people running the project were very skilled, and the scrum team came together well. This was a large project, and took time. As people rotated off the project do to various reasons, the replacements were not as excited about the method. Finally, the program manager moved on, and his replacement killed the project. We went back to trying to add features to the previous system. Scrum is a major change in mindset, and often hard to maintain over time.

    Many people in Syria used to learn French as a second language. Far more learned French in Lebanon. Now? who knows.

    Yes, but a brick layer needs to know where the wall goes. It is also really helpful if he knows what it's used for. I have had programmers write out files and then wonder why they don't show up on the customer's desktop computer. It worked in their IDE. They don't comprehend that they just wrote it out to the application server, and they need to use the web server to display it.

    I have seen a lot of programmers who are totally dependent on the IDE to develop the code. They have no idea how it works or where it runs from once it deploys.
