  1. Re:Anyone know on A Dual Monitor Experiment · · Score: 1

Yes there are, but they start at about 150$ for a low-endish version.. this was a couple months ago that i looked, let me see if i can find it again...

http://www.kvm-switches-online.com/rose-multivid eo .html starts at 700$

    http://www.vetra.com/804V3text.html 350$.

Can't find the cheapo 150$ one i found before, but then, you probably wouldn't want to buy it anyway. Just google for multimonitor kvm and you'll find tons.

You have a valid point, but California earthquake coverage is underwritten by the state, not the companies, tho you are billed by and aquire the insurance thru your home insurer -- most (all?) of the companies pulled out of CA earthquake coverage after the SF and LA earthquakes.

    He's correct.

For a while now, higher end cards have come with secondary power inputs from the PSU. If this line is not connected, or the power on this line is marginal, the card will drop it's core and memory mhz levels to compensate.

See http://www.hardwarezone.com/img/data/articles/2004 /1071/no-power-1.jpg for an example of the warning given when this occurs.

Course, you're correct as well, w/o this feature you just crash :)

There is no (known, atm) way to do so, without patching tcpip.sys. There is a site which gives instructions on how to do so here http://www.lvllord.de/ - an automated tool to patch, and the offsets and values for those who prefer to do it themselves.

    Breathing, for one.

My wife gets short of breath, feels like she can't get enough air (tho her blood o2 levels are fine) when she has caffiene -- even just a single cup of coffee. Took a LONG time to figure out what was causing it.

On the good side, it's turned cherry coke into a treat instead of common drink =).

  6. Re:US minimum wage on Tale of Two Tech Hubs: Silicon Glen & Chandiga · · Score: 1

Yes, there is a federal minimum wage, but the grandparent was correct - it does vary from state to state and city to city. The highest rate is applicable. For example, California's is 6.75, and (because you mentioned tips) that excludes tips for waitresses/waiters.

I believe San Francisco just voted in a city-wide minimum wage of 8.50.. "The vote makes San Francisco the third city in the nation to set its own higher-wage threshold"

Possibly because Dell has a physical presence in your state -- I seem to recall hearing that as a requirement for charging sales tax.

  8. paid 2 months off? on What are Your Programming Goals? · · Score: 1

I'm sorry, I must disagree with you. My wife is a teacher -- she doesn't get a paid 2 month vacations, what she gets is a 90 hour workweek, of which she is paid for 10 months of the year, with a portion of that salary withheld so that she receives a paycheck during the summer months.
Some school districts allow the teachers the option of not withholding the money till summer, others don't -- but by no means is it a '2 month vacation'.

For most single teachers, it's more like a 2 month job hunt while they try to make ends meet till the next school year.
