    Actually 12800 divided by 8 is 1600 million bytes. Which divided by 1048576 (1GBit) = 1.5258789 GigaBytes.

    Remember that 1 mbit = 1024 bit and 1 gbit = 1024 mbit = 1048576 bits.

    because those companies make the same mistake you make, statistics and profiles are NOT facts, they say absolutly nothing about a person.

    Secondly I am a socialist so I don't want companies to make more money over my back and I don't like the thing you said about those who have it better will get even better.

    I like Friends (not as much as Star Trek or Babylon 5 or Maried with Children but I like it).

    But more important: once you give a little bit of privacy away you will soon lose the rest. You probably don't mind them knowning what you eat either, but when you sleep? When you piss? Before you know you are being watched and 'profiled' 24/7.

    Well, isn't it one of the wonders the net brought us? If your country doesn't let you express yourself, you can still do it easily from another one and yet reach the same audience.

    The only problem with not fighting this is that the 'free' world goes on getting smaller and smaller until it is gone and you are walking around with a chip in your head so that big brother can see if you have nasty thoughts.

    It is less ('L'esser not 'L'ibrary). But even if it was you still couldn't neither if it was more. The GPL forbids you to remove or add restrictions from the license.

    But the GPL should be fine for libraries to.

    Most governments aren't concerned about the power on this frequency since sharing it with your microwave makes it hard for anything usefull.

    Interesting that use of this frequency requires frequency hopping, anyone who knows more than me about what this means for interferrence between units?

    If it is done properly it will actually reduce interference since a unit can hop to another channel if it gets interferred.

    Actually often it is clever, railroad companies often lay there own fiber along the tract for their own communications. It isn't that hard to put some extra data on these lines.

    He will sooner be jamming the long range system since his signal will be much stronger...

    Suppose he is at the half of the link, if both systems use the same power output the directional antenna's used would have to have a gain of at least 12db to get the a signal just as strong at the other side.

    You are forgetting that this is directional, if two 'beams' cross you won't even notice. Besides you can pump in as much power that you want, but since these frequencies tend to go in a straight line you won't get far beond the horizon.

    Cordless phones use a omnidirectional antenna system.

    I can only imagine all those pitty script kiddies showing of how they 'hacked ALL irc servers'. 'See they are all down because of me, woohoo'.

    Although it will raise some attention to the DDOS problem, although it will probably result in more stupid laws preventing the wrong thing.

    128 bit addressing is not that interessting, 128 bit data is. You can make more precisive calculations without having to break data up, and you can transfer data twice as fast.

    Well, AMD is going to a 400Mhz bus, so there is improvement in that direction, but most people still think that the clockspeed of the processor is a good indication of the systems computing power.
