  1. what words on Copyright Industries Oppose Treaty For the Blind · · Score: 1

blind or shortsighted is the words i would have used to describe this corporate activity, but that would be inappropriate with the context.

  3. Excellent! on New Theory of Gravity Decouples Space & Time · · Score: 1

this article was covered by SciAm too. I think that this is a first step in the right direction as far as innovation in the theory. i read that some of the theory used math from helium super-fluids.

It needs to be rigorously tested, and with the LHC seeming to be working, we will be able to start.

  7. Trash Mining on Transforming Waste Plastic Into $10/Barrel Fuel · · Score: 1

I am ecologically minded and whatnot, but i have never cared much about people complaining about landfills and trash.

i really think that one day people will simply mine those landfills for methane, metals, plastics, organics, and electronics(which can be rendered into several useful elements).

i can see that this could be done in a technological way with robots, heavy machinery. but i also think it can be done post-apocalyptic ally with mass numbers of workers :)

  8. memories....damn on Sony To Encase Half the Star Wars: Galaxies Servers In Carbonite · · Score: 1

I played this game for the better part of 2006. i started right when Jump to Lightspeed came out and quit after the Combat Upgrade (C.U.), like just about everyone else.

hey WOW players, imagine if 95% of your inventory and 75%skills where taken away or renedered unusable. and then give a strong character a puny level 19 when they switched to Sony online everquest-y style. that was the Combat upgrade. i quit and most of the other players quit. it was like a ghost town mmorpg.

there are people who are trying to bring back the Pre-CU Star War Galaxies by emulating the servers and whatnot, but none of them seem even close to being done.

i will always remember my wookie character, Woklor!!

  10. ISP awareness on Drop in P2P Traffic Attributed To Traffic Shaping · · Score: 3, Insightful

there has to be more to this. obviously the ISP's are very aware of P2P networks. They market this in commercials that say "download music at increased rates!" which are in context about purchasing mp3's but belie the fact that they provide infrastructure to P2P networks, and anti-IP scenes.

And im not saying that this is a bad thing...

  12. Arizona Fascism on Arizona Judge Tells Sheriff "Reveal Password Or Face Contempt" · · Score: 4, Interesting

Joe arpaio has gang of sherrifs who go down into the barrio and round up any "mexican-looking" persons, detain them, and try to deport them. this is done simply by checking the color of their skin.

i have spent a nite in arpaio's jail (wrongfully arrested) and eating the substandard "ladmo" bags with green bologna.

i have seen lives crushed and destroyed. i have heard journalists who were kidnapped from their homes at 4 am by men driving a car with sonora license plates. This was because they uncovered joe's illegal real estate investments

arpaio is a murderer, a torturer, rascist, and a fascist. he should be in PRISON

  13. not good idea on Murdoch Says, "We'll Charge For All Our Sites" · · Score: 0

  14. hmmm on Student Sues University Because She's Unemployable · · Score: 1, Insightful

ive seen this time and time again. how many people do we know that have some kinda bachelors, and DON'T use it?? or maybe work but have a job in another unrelated field. I think that colleges overstate their utility in some respects. Not to overgeneralize this, but they are in the business of selling degrees to most.
