  6. Re:I'll finally be able to see it in order! on Sci-Fi Channel Picks Up Babylon 5 · · Score: 1

I think in some ways it did copy some things from DS9 (yes, I know it was conceived several years before DS9, but it was filmed after DS9 started), especially with the 1-shot episodes. After a few seasons it really started to pick up the pace, and became very enjoyable. A lot of the plotlines were taken straight from SF novels, and it even grew fairly melodramatic. Sci-fi is one of the few genres that can handle melodrama and still work though, and while when it was bad it was very bad, when B5 was good it couldn't be touched...

Why are they, to quote the lead, nuts? It sounds like a perfectly sane plan to me, and you'll notice that these two "astronuts" actually made it to space, while we're huddled in front of our computers on earth. Making out better than us it looks like.

Didn't he leave Origin before? Can't remember any details, but I thought he was out of the loop for a few ultimas, then came back near the end of the series.

And just wanted to add to the others that yes, Ultima 5 is the greatest game ever made.

  14. blame suburbia on Geek Profiling: The Next W.A.V.E. · · Score: 1

It's ironic how the violent incidents that everyone's talking about seem to be an exclusively middle class, suburban phenomenon. People moved to the suburbs partly for security, but I feel a lot safer living in NYC than I would in these weird planned communities that blanket the country.

Of course, the easiest way to prevent another Columbine would be to simply outlaw firearms, but hey, that would be too easy.
