    Why would you wait tables for 8 hours a day, when you could have 8 people wait tables for 1 hour a day? If there are still restaurants, then there is still a need for waiters, but if there is no need to exploit people, then I'd image jobs would align to a more human-friendly pattern. After all, plenty of people would wait tables a few hours a week if it meant a few great meals that week. We will always need to work, just how and at what will change.

    This is mostly true, however, nursing is notoriously hostile to male nurses, while the current dialogue is unsure if CS/IT is particularly hostile to women.

    More important is - why aren't men going into teaching? Much more concerning

    In the US and Canada, reportedly, male teachers often find public schools to be a hostile environment. That is why the number of teachers increases the older students, and you see a higher percentage of male professors than female professors.

    The camoflauge part is bullshit too. it's not an advanced function. It's a very low level one that happens to work well, but is extremely low in the neural function, not even getting close to the brain.

    The requirements in education between a doctor and a nurse are substantial, you can't really compare them. Considering how much aid there seems to be for nursing programs, I'd imagine many men would go if they felt there were a satisfying career in it.

    I pay $30USD for Internet(50Mb) down from $45(24Mb, no special, Comcast) and I bought a Roku 3 for $50. The sticks are $49 on Amazon, so less than $100 is possible.

    I am certainly no fan of affirmative action but the situation does imply that a lack of an initial "hand up" to reach the economic and educational status that will value intelligence is a strong barrier to making that part of the culture. You generally have to get your head above water before you can see that there is land there, and the value of education and upward mobility is usually hidden from those who have never glimpsed it because it's just alien to their experience.

    I think this is something people don't get. You can't judge historically resource poor groups by the standards of non-resource poor groups. The ultimate goal should be for everyone to be on an even playing field before the game even starts.

    Whites may make up a significant portion of development staff (and they also make up over 80% of the population in the US

    The 2010 US Census says that its 72% apparently, and in that number includes Hispanics, Arabs, and various other minority groups that don't fall into other groups.

    Race is just race - dogs of different races cross-breed since they are all dogs, humans do the same, but, as dogs, they have some differences between races, with IQ been one of them.

    So, Ubuntu attempts to bridge mobile and desktop, and fails. Microsoft attempts to bridge mobile and desktop with Windows 8, and fails. So Apple will try, and win? In what alternate reality does that make any sense?

    No. Ubuntu attempted to sell an expensive phone, largely to a demographic that doesn't purchase expensive phones. The new Ubuntu devices are coming out, just not the godly one he was wanting to produce.

    Microsoft is already doing this with Windows 8. But Ubuntu and Apple are the innovators... lame...

    To my knowledge, there really isn't much of a difference between Ubuntu across devices anyways, so it isn't much of a comparison until Microsoft makes one device that has both interfaces.

    Uh, yeah, neither of those are acceptable specs for a laptop or desktop.

    That is more than adequate for common usage.

    It would be the same interface as Ubuntu on ARM. Logically, any desktop interface options you have would be valid. The heart of the idea is one device, one group of applications, one set of personal data and settings, changes how it presents itself based on context.
