  5. Re:How is the USA a democracy when.. on Presidential Candidates Arrested at Debates · · Score: 1

It isn't, and never has been. Right now, we are at our most democratic point in our history of our nation. The founding fathers never intended to give the vote to any one except aristocratic white males. In a true democracy, suffrage is extended to all who live in a country. An extreme example of this is Kuwait. Actual Kuwaiti citizens are the only ones who are allowed to vote there, but are a minority. There is no fully Democratic nation anywhere right now.

Exactly. It would have taken me days to send my friend the entire series of Aqua Teen Hunger Force, but I loaded them all onto my iPod and took them over to his house. I think though that a small magnifying lens that can be attached a fixed distance from the screen may be a good idea though. If you had a 2.2 inch diagonal LCD and could use something like was popular for the early gameboys to make it seem like a 4.4 inch screen that would make it a lot more usable. Why does it matter that much about someone breaking timeseal? If you're cheating on ICC, then you truly must have no life. Yes, there are some prizes available for their tournaments, but to play on ICC just to win stuff is silly. Chess is a game. If you cheat so that you can win some rinky-dink prize or, even more deplorably, to just boost your rating then you are truly a pathetic individual. Any win by cheating is essentially hollow and meaningless. Chess is fun, but cheating seeems like one way to make it un-fun really fast. When chess stops being fun, what's the point?

  23. Re:Imagine having to recode everything to quicktim on First Portable Media Centers Hit Store Shelves · · Score: 1

I think the main difference though is that quicktime can encode and play a lot of open formats really well. A quicktime device would be able to play a lot more formats natively. Yes, having to use .mov's in a device would be pretty lame, but .mov files are only relatively small group of files which quicktime handles. Frankly, Windows Media sucks on a Mac. Playback quality is at best marginal on my dual 1.8 G5. God forbid I have to resize the window or jump to a different part of the file being played back. In my experience, Quicktime works better on windows than WMP does on Mac. Also, it seems that divX, Xvid, and 3ivx put WMV to shame bit for bit.

  25. Re:Year of the Portable my butt on PowerBook G4 Battery Recall · · Score: 1

True, nobody was hurt as a result of the 5300 battery issue, but 5300 li-ion batteies were shipped. I should know, I had a 5300 ce. The battery itself was great (and one of, if not the first li-ion batteries). The problem was with a part of the recharge circuit that would not stop the recharge cycle even when the battery was full. Overcharging a Lithium-Ion bettery causes it to not only get hot, but also causes a buildup of Hydrogen (in H+ form I believe). The combination of those factors can lead to a fire in some circumstances. It is really unfortunate that apple dropped the Lithium batteries in favor of NiMH beacause of that incident, but I guess they wanted to be safe. Personally, I took the NiMH replacement, but the battery life wasn't nearly as good. Any Lithium-Ion battery has the potential for exploding, (really, they don't explode, judt catch on fire) but there is a chip inside all of them which keeps tham from doing so. Apple used the very first generation of Sony (the first people to make Li-IOn batteries) batteries to run in the Powerbooks and they got burned (har har) for it. F-it, I'm drunk. Please don't mod me down.

    Thank you, bitches.
