Maybe Joe Six-Pack would switch to Linux if discs were shipped with beer... in all sizes. I think 30 packs would be the quickest way to make people switch...
Hey, Let's get drunk and install this CD.
Perhaps a distro called "Six-Pack Linux"... Ubuntu with a theme appropriate for the kind of beer it's shipped with.
We just threw a bunch out where I work. Switched back to the big boxy HP's with paper trays because they're the reliable ones (My 4P+ is still goin after well over a decade). (the top-fed ones suck)
We now call Brothers "Oh Brothers"
Just like getting your car fixed, choose the best for the job.... a tire shop for tires, an oil change place for oil, a brake specialist for brakes (or do 'em yourself), etc... HP might be pretty sucky when it comes to desktop PCs, but their printers are some of the best ones out there... if you stay away from the consumer-grade cheapos.
If you feel that way.. you, like me shouldn't have kids. (I don't have any of my own, but I am a volunteer for a youth organization, so I teach children all the time, and know this works)
You don't have to look over their shoulders 24/7... just enough to make them think you are. It's the old Proverb... mom's have eyes in the back of their heads.... no they don't! They know their children well enough to know when they are lying, what they are getting into trouble with, how they are doing in school, and if their friends are bad apples. That's all it takes.
I was raised in a pretty relaxed manor, but I learned right from wrong, respect for my elders, and enough to realize the repercussions of "fucking up". I see it too much these days... parents say "why should I have to give up my life just because I have kids?" Well... why shouldn't you? You brought the child into this world, and they will look up to you whether you take an active part in it or not!
Wanna keep yourself safe from such things as lawsuits from your kids. Raise them right, make sure that everything they see, and everything you do in front of them leads to an ingrained and instinctive knowledge of right and wrong. It will make your life better, while helping your children go far in life.
Plain and simple, if you didn't raise your child in a way that he or she will not commit the crime in the first place, then it is THEM who should be punished so they learn the lesson you failed to teach, and YOU who should be held responsible for not teaching that lesson.
I'm sure someone is going to come along and tell me I'm wrong, or that I have no clue what I'm talking about... but that's because they will have different personal beleifs.
Wouldn't it be easier just to hit F8? or go to View -> Lyout -> Message Pane?

I have mod points...but here I go wasting them on this.
PDF is a simulation of printed documents on Screen. The idea is that it will look the same on screen as when it's printed... on any computer that supports the format.
Why would you want to see page breaks that are irrelevant to the content? Because you want to see if those page breaks are going to cause your content to annoy the reader on paper when printed.
Metro on the other hand is going to be another proprietary format that will work on Windows... maybe on macs, and won't get adopted by the industry because PostScript and PDF are an Open Standard that companies can build in to things (like printing presses) easily.
Maybe Metro is how MS plans to extend DRM to the print industry?
Clippy: I see you are trying to print copyrighted works... please provide your license for this document.
This is along the lines of those calculator mousepads. Utterly useless, but someone thinks people want to pay extra for it.
So... you can get an iPod for $200 - $250 or you can buy a whole new laptop with this Thingy on it... I'd rather not drag my laptop out to do what I can do with an iPod + looking at the plane schedule on the wall.
I dunno what you're talking about... I run Kubuntu on a 1.2GHz Athlon M processor with 256Mb of memory and a 64Mb GeForce Mx daily, and it is quite usable.. On the other hand, the XP machine with a 1.33 GHz Athlon M and 768Mb of memory doesn't run quite as nicely.
Kde isn't just a little friendler to my hardware than XP, it's nicer by leaps and bounds. All I do on my XP machine much anymore is watch DVDs/TV, and some Photoshop. For everything else the Linux box does well.
Maybe I'll get a newer machine sometime... but I don't see it happening soon, so I'll stick with the Kubuntu and hope I can keep optimizing.
I'm going to start sharing files composed of data randomly generated to mimic the file size of the other files with that name being shared by others.
Right up the alley of the DeCSS that was spread intentionally which was a piece of software to strip stylesheets from html documents. The RIAA needs to learn a lesson here, they need to learn that not every file named after a song they produce/sell actually is that file.
The idea is to flood the net with enough false leads that the real thing is more difficult to pick out.
Obstruction of justice you say?
I think it is my right to do something completely legal, whether it obstructs you from carrying out a civil case or not. Take one for the team! Create your own collection of phony files (just like the RIAA is releasing) and show big business that they don't own citizens.
karma whore? Post linux distros with album names from the top lists.
I've been saying this since Google Spreadsheet was mentioned on Slashdot a few months ago.
I would rather see it on an Intranet/VPN than on Google/MS Servers. I'm sure there are plenty of companies who would like this as well.
Even better, go the last step, make it so a company can tie Google Calendar, Writely (Google Word Processor now?), Spreadsheet, Gmail for domains, etc into a nice Web-Based CRM Interface.
Support the Office document formats, OpenDoc, HTML, and PDF.
Companies want teams! They want collaboration, they want workers to pickup a project, get it done, good, fast, and cheap... a server-based Office Suite/CRM/Scheduler/etc. that doesn't need a brand new computer every 6 months is a very important step forward.
If google does that, they will have aproduct that is appealing to businesses. Otherwise, they are just targeting the general public, who would just as soon use Wordpad for word processing, or a pirated copy of office without a second thought.
You are absolutely right, the voting system in this Country (The U.S.) is broken! It is broken because Eleven Score and ten years ago, our forefathers decided that the average American was too dumb to vote and thus formend the Electoral College. Since then, the whole damn system has gone full bore down the tubes it was trickling down in the first place.
I use PSPad on Windows for everything but PHP... and dev-php for PHP...jEdit looks somewhat like PSPad... maybe it will fill in the features I miss with Kate.
Most states have specific laws in place for when you can defend your home with lethal force (shooting with a deadly weapon) whereas adding laxitive (not a poison, etc) to your food is not covered and would be a simple civil case...which probably wouldn't amount to much in the end anyway.
If it came down to it he could have simply said he'd been blocked up lately and it was for his own health reasons.
strip_tags SHOULD work... then you have readers and web browsers that use the IE rendering engine that executes JavaScript whether it's in a script tag or not.
Quite annoying if you ask me. It shouldn't be executed if the script tag or javascript: doesn't exist.
That's why I always use a form of bbcode instead of html for comment forms.
So... if some WINE applications work better withn a native Windows install, one could install this Ad-Supported windows, and use the directory as their "Native windows" for running some software.

No... the part about the pickaxe is just to make it sound worse than it it... then you read it again slower and it says it's a pick-axe handle
So... rather than taking the whole pickaxe into a situation, the guy took the handle... might as well have been a baseba...err.. Cricket Stick.
No sense at all...

Designer: hmm... time to install Acrobat.
WTF? You forgot RTFM!

Perhaps it's time to revamp the voting system...
I guess you could load it with pr0n and play with your dongle now and then...
OTOH, in some places you can get arrested for exposing your large dongle in public.
The slashdot effect extends to fry equipment in a radius now...
Looks Interesting...

That is a different case.

Like This?
So... If you die, and leave yur music collection to your kids in your will, you are sharing music with them, and they are subject to a lawsuit.
With the requirements of Agency law... chances are that the lawyers are just doing their jobs and represending their clients.
A lawyer is but a minion sent to do your dirty work if that is what they have been sent to do.
That's the whole point of the scene in Dogma when Loki goes in to "Smite" the board of the toy company for being idolers.
but who...oho who will smite these people who have come to worship their posessions?

I'm all for it!
Inconceivable!
Don't you get it... Microsoft.com runs you! (and this isn't Soviet Russia BTW)
