Most SQL dialects include some sort of exclusion operator.
SELECT * FROM A INTERSECT SELECT * FROM A LIMIT 99;
Except Oracle, which has no 'limit' exclusion operator! This really bugs.
SELECT tbl.col1, tbl.col2 FROM (SELECT rownum col1, col2 FROM table) tbl WHERE tbl.col1 BETWEEN 1 AND 99;
....could be a lot shorter with limit.

Cry me a river. You know I'm allergic to cats (and some dogs), but you don't see me complaining that there needs to be a ban on walking your dog, or letting your cat loose now do you? Nope, because I value personal freedoms a little more than the slight inconvenience of watery eyes and irritated sinuses.
Did I mention Dreamweaver? No, that's because Dreamweaver is not an IDE, it's a beefed up HTML editor that contains none of the functions one would expect from an IDE. Was Google written with Dreamweaver? I doubt it, but I'm willing to bet it was written using the programs I *did* mention. I'll still share what I've been smoking with you however.
Are you a professional web developer? Then use a text editor.
Are you serious? I can't remember the last time I sat down with a professional and had them open a terminal with VI or whatever. Professional web developers are hardly the static HTML page designers of the early 90's. Sure for a personal site, a couple pages, a text editor would work fine. But these days professionals develop code in PHP, ASP.NET, CFML and Java. Professionals write websites like Amazon, Google, MSN and CNN. These websites are mostly an HTML framework powered by databases and endless lines of code created by teams of professionals. VIM, GREP, AWK and SED are hardly a match for a full blown IDE like ZendStudio or VisualStudio. For example, try tracking down an object you can't remember (or never knew) the name of in a full blown web application using a text editor. Having trouble? Open an IDE and browse the objects tree! Want to bug test a couple of functions without uploading a whole application? Use the run from here command, the built in interpreter or compiler will handle the rest for you. IDE's certainly do have their place, and more often than not it's with the professionals.
I sure as heck don't need flash, and recomend alternatives where possible, but when it comes down to it if the customer wants flash that's what they are going to get. Although with CSS, DHTML, Javascript and AJAX going the direction that they are, flash use in common web apps is becoming more obsolete by the day. Macromedia's suite is hands down the best there is out there for flash however... it's a good thing it runs under Crossover Office.
Do you think this may set a precedent for software tracking that can apply in cases like Tanya Anderson, who counter sued the RIAA for trespassing into her computer?
I signed up a Yahoo account a very long time ago, before they asked for a birthdate. I recall a few years ago there was something that changed with internet regulation and I got a message from Yahoo stating that I needed to be over 13 and to enter my birthday into my profile. One of the steps was I had to give them a credit card number for verification. There was a $1 charge that was instantly reversed on my credit card. I can't remember the reasoning they gave for this, but I know it's not required on new accounts. I wonder if they will start doing something like this to verify age?
In virtually all states that I've been to, it's the right to drink, not just the right to buy. In some states it goes a little bit further than that too, in California and Arizona for example, if you're buying liquor at a store not only does the store need to see your ID, but anyone else you're with. They of course won't bother me when I have my two year old son, however, last week *I* could not buy a beer because my wife (whos over 21) left her purse with her ID in the car... and she does not even drink beer! Of course we where told to go back to the end of the line if we where going to wait for her to go outside and get it (we left our groceries there and went to another store.)
Some of the newer stores actually have these scanning devices where they swipe your ID through the machine, About a year ago I was denied a purchase because my ID was bent and would not scan... even though it's clearly indicated on the front of the card my birthdate!
In retrospect this puts into perspective America's obsession with assinine regulation...
OpenOffice saves files as an XML format. Many languages, such as PHP, have external libraries that can read, parse or rewrite XML documents. Once you have the file stripped down to just the important XML sections, it should be very trivial to rewrite this into HTML. I did something kind of like this for a client who wanted to alter RSS news sources on a local website.
Cato.org is most excellent. Very seldom do I disagree with Cato. It's named after a series of Libertarian letters written by two unnamed sources condemning tyranny and advocating the ideologies of personal liberty and freedom. These letters directly influenced the colonies, which lead to the American Revolution. Libertarianism, one might say, is as American as apple pie.
I hate to break it to you Blakey, but Bush lied... See Bush has this crystal ball (I swear to jeebus he does... it's made by Halliburton out of methamphetamines and dead baby kittens) and it told him there where no weapons of mass destruction in Iraq! He held that information back you see? He knew it and he lied... ask Blair! He's seen the crystal ball too...
There's also some good info on Libertarians on WiKiPedia. Though sometimes divided we support drug reform, welfare reform, social security reform, minimal government and above all else personal liberty. We're growing stronger each and every year.
"if you live in the US, you've got LOTS of people telling you what's in your (Their) best interests"
And that's *really* the heart of it ain't it? It's not about liberal or conservative. For better or worse, it's about politicians/corporations of all political/social ideologies finding their mark and stepping in to inject their moral views on our society.
If you read the thread in context i was referring to the comments made by the grandparent where a conclusion was drawn that bush somehow had his hand in the end result of the microsoft trial. Far fetched at best and certainly giving bush a bit to much credit. I certainly don't believe bush has the mental capacity to do such a thing. Do you? BTW: You seem to have a lot of misguided aggression, you might want to try focusing that on something other than trying cheap shots on message boards.

The COM function allows you to open an OLE compatible COM object (which MSWord is). Examples are provided for opening MSWord files. Enjoy!

At a cost of my personal freedom? Yup, I guess that is a good trade... I lose some freedom and Hillary gets to be on TV...

its just too bad the Zaurus (with the latest rom) doesn't have a WPA option. Kinda leaves you "locked out" of some modern WiFi networks.
Try http://www.0php.com/free_PHP_hosting.php. There are a couple free hosts that support dynamic PHP pages, some also include MySQL. Happy coding!

terrorism: the systematic use of terror especially as a means of coercion. - Merrian-Webster
Iraq using chemical weapons on Kurds to *coerce* them does not qualify? The thought of nerve gas being used on people is pretty terrifying, no?
