I seem to manage "right and wrong" just fine without god thank you very much. It might be just me, but being nice feels pretty good. Enough motivation.
The Arab countries vote as a bloc. They managed to pass through a resolution in the UN making blasphemy a crime. Sorry, but there are far more stupid and backward people in the world than intelligent and forward thinking ones. We can't have the Internet which is one of the greatest achievements and treasures of mankind tarnished by them.
The US has done a pretty good job so far all things considered. Just imagine what would happen if countries like China, Russia, Iran and India got a say in it. Sorry, but these countries are simply not advanced enough to have a say in how the Internet is run. I say this as an India.
I writhe with jealousy at the enlightened governments in the EU. Compare that to our clueless Indian government that wants to control the Internet despite not knowing how, and you can sympathize with me.
Forget six thousand years ago. How do you know you didn't pop into existence five minutes ago with all your memories intact? Or two seconds ago? Unprovable theories have no truck in the scientific world.
Witness the destruction of false logic via reductio ad absurdum:D
Why what? Why are we here? Evolution. If you're asking for the greater purpose in life, there is none. Our lives are meaningless to everyone and everything in the universe except for each of us.
I'm an Indian and I couldn't give a fuck about "social stability". If adults can't control themselves and go on a rampage, they need to be removed from the rest of us civilized people.
This might come as a surprise to you, but not all Indians live that way. And those of us who're not piss poor care deeply about a censor free Internet.
Oh don't discount ego. Indian people (and the government) are constantly looking for ways to feel "prestigious" and better about themselves. Didn't you know we aspire to be a "superpower"?:D
But power in the hands of stupid, unhumorous, oversensitive, public pandering bigots? *shudder*
Speaking as an Indian, I can safely say that we as a country don't deserve to have ANY control over the Internet. The US might not smell of roses, but compared to an authoritarian style government like India, they're pretty damn good.
Actually scratch that. The Indian government is not authoritarian. It's just...stupid and uninformed and clueless. Ditto for most of the population.

Affection can also be for games. Like I have affection for Prince of Persia. I don't even recall the name of the company that made it.

I might want to give it to my great great grandchildren a hundred years later to show them what playing games was like back in the "old days". Even today I can play games like Prince of Persia, Pacman etc. Why? Because I own those games. It's just wrong to create and sell games that will one day be impossible to play without an Internet connection.
I don't agree that the definition changes merely because Apple has an approval process. For all practical purposes, the iPad is quite general purpose. It allows you to run programs. Apple vets them for sure, but there are almost 600,000 apps and that's pretty general for anyone.
Given this, I think Apple should get hauled up for not allowing full featured third party browsers on the iOS platform.
Huh? What do you mean by a "general purpose tablet"? Apple provides a platform via iOS that developers can build on top of with their third party programs. If that is not general purpose, then what is?
Are you saying that Apple produces "specific purpose" tablets?
Wrong analogy. Conflicts of interest are specifically forbidden in most civilized judicial systems. Personal relationships are not allowed. In your example, if the judge personally knew the accused then yes - the judge should have recused himself/herself.
It's to do with expectations. One is expected to provide an OS merely as a platform for applications to run on it. To have an OS and to restrict what can run on it is shady. As for search, no one expects search to allow people to integrate their own mapping applications into it. Perhaps one day those expectations might arise. As of now, they don't exist.

Tell that to the Arab countries that vote as a bloc. They'll come together with China and India on this one. That 3 billion people right there.
It's BECAUSE the Internet is important that we can't allow unprogressive and dictatorial regimes to sully it further.

Not much free will when you have a gun to your head.
I would choose to be insulted over getting physically hit any day.
Because anyone can just ignore words on a screen. Sticks and stones and all that...
Nothing wrong with calling them out as jerks in addition to not buying any of their products.
Not really an excuse there.

Just let the algorithms decide.

If only people complained about Apple in the same way.
