    But filters don't work. I worked at MSI during the development of CyberPatrol. You just can't keep up with the amount of porn on the internet. And of course, one of the other programmers who worked on it didn't implment proper coding techniques. He was fast, but sloppy. Why do you that was developped so easily.

    Microsoft sued because they were the ISP. They did not sue because they received the spam. The I-CAN-SPAM act (passed by the scum in Washington) prevented individuals for suing spammers.

    Individuals with states that have the laws that prohibit deceptive spam can sue spammers that use deceptive spam (check your state's laws).

    If you want money, you can sue the spammers yourself if the law permits.

    He may have just wrote it for himself and it just took off.
    I worked with Ratko Tomic, who wrote an assembly language library to replace the standard libraries for MSC and Turbo C. He added functionality to make it easy to make TSRs. It was faster and smaller the the compiler's libraries. He wrote it for another person, so that he would not have to deal with triavial user interface code. It was turned into a product. Maybe it was the same for Dan.

    That is exactly my point. I could write a better one too, if I had spare time. Contracting full time and suing spammers take more than 200 hours a week. So many spammers to sue, so little time.

    I have been using the DJBDNS with the DJBDNS rocksinstallation under FC2. This makes it very easy to install and manage.

    The same person also does Qmail Rocks. Of course djbdns and qmail is much more secure than bind and sendmail.

    This can work both ways. If your employer controls your time outside of work, injuries outside of work may become work related. I made this argument, that since my computer work at home was subject to their possession (standard inventions/non-disclosure agreement said it is their unless they didn't want it). Then my tendinitis, even off duty, was compensatible under workers comp.
    BTW. I believe in California, an employer cannot punish you for legal off duty conduct.

    Don't appologize for your code, then promise to fix it later. I saw that done at one company, 3 years after the commenter have left.

    Yeah, you are right. We need to implant everyone with an RFID chip. Legal citizens and residents, and legal tourists. Then we can track everyone's movements. If you don't have one, you are illegal, so we put in a cell for an enemy combatant until you can prove that you are here legally and that you have no intent on harming the USA.

    You only have to worry if you come here to commit crimes or acts of terrorism. Why shouldn't we surgically implant RFID or use non-removable collars that contain RFID? That way any government official can tell when they are here illegally. We could also track their movements by installing a sensor network -- then when they say they are going to stay with someone, we can verify it is true. If they are arriving as a student, we can confirm they are at school.

    This is only done to protect us. It only hinders the bad people. The government is only here to protect us.

    Yes, but 16 hours is not the same as no power. This is not the same as a USB memory stick.

    As long as a loss of power will cause data loss, then it is not good for anything except TEMPORARY storage. This of course gave me the idea of moving some of my spam folders to a ram device so that I may process them for identification strings.

    We already have most of that -- a ram disk. If power fails on this device, the contents are gone. The does make it a little more compatible, but why not let the system operator configure the 4gb of ram in an optimal way for their usIie -- cache v. ramdisk v. application space, etc. I have seen some ram disk/cache software that will reduce the cache space when more ram disk space is configured.

    Given this, many spammers will now claim that when they are outed (sp?), the person outing them is now a criminal -- as it exposing them to danger.

    Far fetched? George Moore aka Dr. Fatburn tried this approach by filing criminal charges.

    I have been trying to find the old innoval guys to get the source for Post Road Mailer, so I could fix and upgrade it. When they dropped J Street Mailer, they ended up providing source code and it became Polar Bar Mailer.

    I wonder, would a spammer be treated the same way in prison as a child molester?
