IANAL but as far as I understand the alleged crime occurred in Russia. There it is actually illegal to prevent you from decrypting your purchased document so you can read it using your preferred method. The EULA as well as DMCA are not legal in Russia where he wrote the program.
Arresting Sklyarov in USA for something he did in Russia, just because it violates US laws, is like arresting an Englishman for driving on the left side of the road (in his home country). That would be required in Britain but obviously illegal in US. You may object to this by saying that Sklyarov discussed his alleged crime at a convention. So this englishman discusses the pros and cons of driving on the left side of the road at a convention about road safety. Should he be arrested? I don't think so!
If this is upheld I will nolonger be able to go to the US because I do not know every law in the US and there may be things that I do that are legal or even required where I live that are illegal in the US...
I was more kinda egotistically thinking of the fact that a hydrogen tank rupturing is likely to explode. A rupturing gas tank may burn and unlikely explode.
IC-engines will produce emisions, always. In the ideal case there will be no harmful emissions (i.e. only water.)
An IC-engine that burns hydrogen with air will produce at least nitrous oxides (nitrogen burnt under high temperatures.) assuming absolutely no pollutants in the air... If there is hydro-carbons or other combustible pollutants in the air, well who knows what fun emissions comes out of the zero-emissions engine.
Never mind the problems and risks of storing hydrogen as fuel in your car.
I am however cautiously optimistic to the prospect of safe and clean fuel-cell engines.

I am still baffled over the fact that a sport played with a torpedo shaped thing in your hands is called football. As far as I know a ball is by definition a spherical thing.
Really classy, protect that trademark but don't totally screw OSS.
Next time keep a shorter laesh on the lawyers though, thhis kinda thing don't have to get blown out of proportion like this.
we develop ads in what I consider to be a user-friendly manner
I take it that this means using a maximum of 256 bytes of my dialup connection. Ooh, noooo you are pumping 10 seconds worth of animated GIF down my bandwith:-((
we use cookies to identify whether or not you have already seen the ad
And those cookies are not designed so that you can get info on my surfing patterns. Yeaahh riiiiight
We do produce campaigns with popup ads
There is one of the few reasons I see for reintroducing capital punishment...
No thank you. Until the day banner ads use little bandwith and offer lots of privacy protection Junkbuster will sit on my HTTP pipe.
Same applies here in Toronto.
Ontario Power Generation wanted senior developers, and I thought that it'd be cool to write S/W for nuke plants. I was shocked to hear that they wanted M$ VB programmers:-(
Well, my employer and my union had their dipute re. the salary of about 40-50 more senior developers and technicians (the union wanted equality, the employer wanted to keep the good people). The union had their way... I called them up and said, I do not need you, please tell me how to leave the union. There is no way to leave the union was the answer!!! So I ordered my employer to stop union dues payments. and was "tossed out" of the union for non payment:-)
Incidentally, within one year most of the people that were in dispute had left the company, exactly what they tried to avoid and the union stopped. I have not been in a union since...
I recently read in the paper that here in Toronto the City Council approved and bought a lot of new garbage trucks that can be operated by one person. Thereby they would be able to cut staff and cost. Now, union contract says that there has to be at least two persons on each garbage truck. So now Toronto has new expensive garbage trucks with one operator and one passenger...
I used to live in Sweden. I was a union member... until the day there was a dispute about new salaries. The employer and the union both fought for their stand in the negotiation. The problem was that the union fought for the lower bid... It took me 6 months of non payment of union dues to get out. You can not leave a Swedish union, however, you can get expelled for non payment of dues.
Don't join a union, it's not the union that mandates the FIFO, it's the law in Sweden. (mind you, that particular law was created by the unions together with the socialist goverment)

We all know that there is no chance of finding / fixing all bugs prior to release. Assuming that all monumental showstoppers have been addressed there are likely a whack of unknown "unintended features" as well as a few known defects that is not yet fixed.
Stating upfront that "we know about these bugs and plan to fix them in 3.0.1" is really professional behaviour. And it gets the compiler ot to a broader group for use/test...

With all due respect, regardless of your perspective on the morality of this law, in the boundaries of the States, it is the law....right?
Yeaahh, but he did so in Russia, where incidentally Adobes encryption is an illegal restriction of the use of the purchased eBook.
Last I checked US laws do not apply outside the US.
Just not the way planned...
When I see a particularly annoying ad I make certain never to buy that product, ever.
