Like anyone in their right mind would take the advice from MS on fashion issues. They have a hard enough time trying to keep their OS running and that's their main job. If they can't do that I hardly think their fashion advice will be any better.
I agree. We have the same problem in the US for the same reasons. Tricks and deception are the tools of politics. I wonder if the reason is that so many politicians are lawyers? It won't get better until the people as a nation make it change.
Now just wait a second, if we start examining all sides of scientific evidence of those scientific explanations, just where does that leave us Gods? Think of all the clergy that will be out of work if this gets around! We are already having a tough time with the kid thing and now this? Give us a break! We are almost extinct now!
Well considering the one who proposed this, the Organization for the Islamic Conference, who's ideas of laws outlawing criticism of their beliefs seems to be kill anyone who disagrees with us, I just can't understand why everyone didn't jump on the band wagon.
Their lack of action when others of their faith kill innocent men, women and children in the name of their god indicates they agree with their methods.
I must agree. Get the paper. I'm 59 and have been involved with computers from the days of keypunch. I had to drop out of school (programming) to make money to live on as I was paying my own way. I got back into it with the Timex, (remember that little jewel?) the Vic 20, Commodore 64. I graduated to the 886 and have had at least one of every model til they hit the Gigahertz range. I upgraded my computers myself, from two 5 1/4 floppies to one of the first 10 meg hard drives in town. From 300 baud modems to cable. I've installed networks in schools, businesses and homes. And all of my experience these days means nothing to a company. No paper, no job. Bottom line. Older workers make better workers because they are more reliable, and companies love that in an employee. Paper and a little age is a good combo. Go for it. I got the opportunity to go to college this year to study CNET and I jumped at the chance. Will I get hired when I finish? Who knows. Can I expand my own computer company with this training? You bet! Jump in with both feet!
Maybe this would not be such a bad thing. I really didn't like any of the candidates and the resent decisions of Obama to uphold the rights of government to spy without monitoring laid down by the previous president kind of proved my point for me. Their all pretty much the same. A computer president? Hmmm...
Besides, a hammer can fix almost anything. It's the first tool I pick up when I'm repairing something that a whack of the hand won't fix. Your pretty limited with a screwdriver.
You might want to read up on how elections are decided. Who you vote for only counts if the electorate agrees with you. Guess what? You have no say-so in who they are. Ergo, your vote doesn't really count unless you can decide who is on that group.
The only chance you have to get a Libertarian on the ticket is to vote more of them in local offices. You won't do that until you vote Libertarian candidates into office.
Republicans and Democrats are pretty much the same, as has be shown by Obama. Your only real option is to elect someone from a different party. None of them are the best choice, but the Libertarians seem the best bet to me with their stance on personal freedom and minimum government.
The usual reasons. Politics, money and control.
Businesses, like the movie and music industry because they were foolish concerning digital and the Internet and are losing money hand over fist. With a lot of Artistes bypassing them there cash cow is dying. Why give most of the profits to someone else when you can now produce your product and distribute it your self? While having the Big Media companies can give you some exposure in the form of highly advertised gigs,Air time on the radio, etc., people are turning in droves to the Internet instead of paying for stuff they don't want to get what they do. Radio is fine for traveling, buy how many people really listen at home anymore?
Politics and control - Governments have always and will always strive to control what they don't like or understand. The old adage what to control information is to control the populist is as true today as it ever was. If you can censure what travels over the net (and this is the real reason governments want control of the net. See China.)then you can bend the truth as you see fit. Hence, more control. And control is what it's all about for politicians. If you are an American you are seeing this played out with the newest administracion. They didn't like the last one so they are doing everything they can to change what they did. I'm not pro either party myself, so this isn't me talking about who should or shouldn't be in power. At issue is who gets to dictate what freedom or rights people can or can not have on a given issue. That is control over peoples lives. The right to MAKE other people toe Your line.
Sometimes you need to look around the tree for the rest of the forest.
So the reason my daughters new laptop with Vista P 32 bit couldn't use the modem was that the hardware was at fault, not the fact that she would have needed to upgrade to Business or higher to get the software that used to be in the XP OS? At the time there was no third party software available to allow the modem to run Fax/Phone applications. And that the printer I bought new a month before that still worked fine with XP was a problem with the hardware as well? We never tried the 64 bit version, so I really don't think that was the issue.
How about the hardware issue? It still means most of your hardware won't work unless you buy "Vista" compatible hardware. And even then I have been hearing reports from BTs that not everything that runs on Vista will run on W7. Like my one month old printer that wouldn't run under Vista isn't likely to run under W7. So your still talking about throwing out good hardware just to get a "better" OS? It doesn't make sense to me, I don't have the kind of cash laying around to chunk what I have and buy new stuff. And if I were a business I would have to take into consideration how much it would cost to replace all of my computers and most of my other hardware. The company I used to work for wouldn't upgrade for that very reason. Anything change?
This is a issue because employers are now scouring the Internet for things their employees say or did. Ask the girl in England who just lost her job because someone saw a comment she made on her My space page. Even though it didn't mention her employer, they fired her because she said she was unhappy about her job. And how about your insurance? Providers are looking you up on the net for anything to disavow your claim or if they will cover you. Anything you say that goes across the net can come back and bite you. In ways yet to be discovered.
I have three Dell computers, all with XP installed from Dell (Pre Vista), NONE of which were installed correctly. Two wouldn't allow any drivers to be installed for any hardware (Fire-wire cards) and one that was just kinky. All were fixed by wiping the drives and reinstalling the OS. Using the repair function of XP wouldn't work. I'm guessing that they need the extra money to train their techs how to do the downgrade.

It wouldn't be the first time, and won't be the last.
More likely it's ripping off these people. http://hackaday.com/2009/05/17/magic-wands-for-disney/ They released open source code for their project here. http://gitorious.org/fantasia
Just so happens we have a Somalian Pirate over here right now! What luck!

As if they needed another reason to drink. No porn? I guess I'd have to start.

Isn't that what they are already doing? (Think DIEBOLD)

Some of us have bad eyesight. Hauling around a 50" or 60" monitor to look at the screen is just plain dumb! A 17" SmartPhone, well maybe...

Never the less, that's what happened. Here is a link http://www.momlogic.com/2009/02/facebook_fired.php
