To "upgrade" an operating system so it doesn't work with your hardware and has less features than the one you have is ludicrous. And asking you to pay almost the price of a PC every couple of years adds insult to injury. I don't think it's hard to hold Microsoft accountable at all. While not everyone has the cash to "upgrade", being without a PC in todays world is becoming less and less an option, especially for those in school. And while Linux is still a good option for those with some skills, it still isn't user friendly to the masses.

This will change when we allow the people to actually vote. Our "vote" is manipulated by "drawing" districts to favor a certain political group or by letting anonymous "electoral" voters decide who will win what elections. When our system was first designed it may have been necessary for this to decide elections. Today this is not the case. We have the means to count and register every vote for who it was meant for. Until we change our way of "voting", our vote will always be manipulated and our rights trampled on..

If a cop wants to search your house or vehicle and you don't want them to, the inevitable question they ask is "What do you have to hide?" I think the same applies here. What are they trying to hide? Then there is "But under the strict 'two-party notification' laws in Massachusetts, it's a crime to 'secretly record' audio communications unless 'all parties to such communication' have given their consent." The key here is the 'secretly record' part. This person was in the open, not hiding anything. Where did the "secret" part come in? This is only one thing. Intimidation by authority to conceal activity that was likely illegal.

As for Europe and their agenda, US bashing is just fox and grapes revisited. Turning the US into Europe is just dragging us down to their level because they can't reach ours, so I see no need to play that game. I do think that our current government (both sides) have lost their purpose and have fallen to the will of their party's, not the will or well being of their constituents. As such I couldn't get a job in todays market with out a college degree. I had the knowledge, but not the paper. Now I have completed college, but I am considered too old. HR types don't have any idea what to look for when hiring new IT employees and think that if they have 5 years of experience someone has done that training for them. It's a lose lose situation for many of those who expect to get a job in the IT field right out of school. If more of these companies did mentoring and internships maybe they would have better pools to chose from.

Why were the FBI wanting to search his computer in the first place? The fact that they had to ask meant they didn't have a warrant. American law allows you to confront your accuser. That means a person or persons who told the FBI he had CP on his computer. Unless the FBI did an illegal search with some kind of stealth program to access his computer with out his knowledge or someone turned him in they wouldn't have been there in the first place. It is never a good idea to let the authorities search any place or possession (like a car) when they ask. I don't care is I get pulled over for speeding or not having my seatbelt on I would never allow a search request. You give up a lot of rights by allowing it. Just the fact you can be arrested for doing what is right shows you can't expect fair an honest treatment form any law-enforcement agency. It's a fact you can download anything with any name and it not be what you thought or expected to get. It's a fact that should you get something of that nature it's hard to get rid of without leaving a trace. It's a fact that you can not count on any government agency to do what is right. It's a fact that a PD doesn't have the same motivation a paid for lawyer has in getting you cleared of what ever you are charged with. It is also a fact that there are those in the system who will do whats right. You just can't take the chance all of those people will be the ones working on your case. And of course there is those twelve jurors who, for the most part haven't got a clue, being manipulated by the court. If you believe you are innocent of what ever charges hove been brought against you, pleading guilty can seal your fate. Should new evidence show up at a later date your "confession" could torpedo any chances of your getting out even if proved innocent. My point is that neither he nor any other person is doing him/her self a favor by accepting a plea bargain. It's not much of a bargain for you. Just them.
