I left my ipod on my desk for about three weeks, nobody stole it. If everyone else has a laptop at work, why would they want to steal yours? The cleaning crew isn't dumb, they know a stolen laptop = old crew fired, new one hired.
This sounds more like someone got demoted and they're taking their frustration out on not trusting others.
No no no, if you're going to troll properly, you have to use the right terminology; it's crypto-fascism. Jesus christ, n00b. Where's the troll-cyclopedia when you need one, to school these - literally - kids?
It's a clip show format, like SNL, but a smaller, more static cast. Sometimes the clips last longer than 30 seconds, but usually then it's for effect, like fighting with that chicken for 3-4 minutes straight. If you don't like clip shows, might I recommend (the canceled) Studio 60, The West Wing, or most anything on HBO? Family guy is not about character or plot development.
I thought Next Generation went from thursday nights to Sunday nights? Or was it only Sunday nights? I think I was in 6th grade when they aired the final episode so it's been a while.
You can buy six regular strength surge protectors for the price of this. You'd have to be hit directly with lightning for the products plugged in to the 6th strip to get zapped. I always chain at least two anyways (Dallas area is prone to lightning 2-3 times a month year round, 1-2 times a week in late summer).
AMD has been trying to build a plant in Austin for years now. This is most likely a deal deeply connected with finally breaking ground on a plant people have been protesting for YEARS now, due to it's location (near watersheds, etc)
UT students have been pushing against putting a polluting plant in Austin (very green-aware city) for years. This is just a move to placate the protestors, I'm sure. 4 years? What happens after that?
They are offering a new scratch resistant coating on some discs. BD-RWs with this coating cost an extra $5/pack (of 3?). I haven't seen a demonstration myself, but all reports point to !snake oil.
Pretty cool. Now design me some solar panels that can withstand the heat and atmosphere. I think you'd be better off creating some sort of heavy industry moon brilliant. Avoids the atmosphere problem. Now; what's the internal temperature of the planet, 100m down?
Well, look at it this way; if you figured it out, don't you think people who do that for a living might have figured it out as well? I work for a catalog, with a rapidly growing online presence. My boss flat out said the other day (just mailed out our 08 catalogs) that although our website is growing expoentially, we know that (by talking to them) they're flipping through the catalog, and ultimately ordering via the website. Thus our mailed catalogs are down about 15% over last year, but as my boss also said, we're never completely getting rid of the catalog. Print media still counts for a lot, especially for the baby boomer generation. We get a lot of emails from tech directors (to an email address only found on the website) in their early 30s who have flipped through our catalog as well.
That said, we concentrate ONLY on google. We spend $0 on yahoo advertising or a decent page rank.
wait, wait, are we talking "kawe-fee" or "Ca-fee" (long A)? kawe-fee is specific to parts of NYC and boston, which make up a very small percent of the US, but very large percent of US sitcoms
That's pretty bad ass about the card. I typically buy a NYT every day at lunch - now I can eat my (bag) lunch at SB and (hopefully meet the minimum purchase on the card) and surf the web.
Well, Asus alone plans to sell about 50% more Eee PCs (5 million)
Does Asus also plan on dropping the price of the Eee to acceptable levels? It's a neat gadget, and I'd buy one, if models were available in the US that cost less than $400
Err $1400 for a new HDTV. I went with the 8600 over the 7 series because a) this was the first pc i'd bought in 8 years and b) an 8600 seemed like a good buy for a machine that litterally only has TF2 installed
If everything were done "fairly", we'd have started off with one standard and I wouldn't have to be waiting another 6 months for apple to release a macbook with a blue ray drive preinstalled.
8-series Nvidia cards cost less than a hundred bucks these days. I went with the 512mb 8600gt instead of thr 256 version because 109 vs 119 USD is trivial with the value of the dollar these days. $100 is nothing when you just dropped $1400+150 in taxes...
In the UK, at least, the key point is 16x9, as almost all broadcast content is now in that aspect ratio.
This is fairly true in the US as well; Conan is shown with black bars even on regular aspect TV, as are a couple of dramas on NBC. I think every 1 hour drama on broadcast television has been shooting in widescreen for at least two years now. Hell, Star Trek: TNG was shot in 16:9!
The blink tag doesn't render, or at least is turned off in FF, but I know in IE it still works... I have to visit this site at least once a week and even when I shut my eyes, it's just... blink...... blink.... blink
That's also about half the speed (and the processor is at least two generations behind the GOS board), plus the bus isn't as fast. Over 4 years (expected lifespan?) how much is your time worth to you?
I wish I could mod you above 5. I'm not sure if you were hinting at macs, or maybe window's sleep function has improved finally after 5-10 years, but the only time my laptop reboots is insane system crash (every 6 months), or a major security release (usually done immediately after system crash. 6.5 years and running on one laptop, and I've probably only rebooted it less than 20 times total.
Wasn't the slim PS2 released.. 2, 3 years ago in the US? This looks exactly like it. The article says the power supply is inside it now, instead of as a laptop power supply looking thing, but I'm skeptical.

Slashdot avoids the strikeout tags. Sad.

Very cool. Drop me a line when you release your product; we're spending heavily in that area currently.

Even for people in that part of the northeast, that's a fairly uncommon accent (cawfee).
lawls @ your troll
+1 hillarious
nyt is the only paper i can buy across the street from my work that has any decent national/world coverage
