That reminds me of one guy I worked with that relied heavily on his debugger for everything- since he used the debugger for everything he never had to develop decent naming for methods or object models that made sense. Maintaining or modifying his code was a nightmare!
You won't be teaching the guy anything. If he has been coding more than a couple years and isn't sick of making the same mistakes over and over there is no hope for this person.
Making a family movie that would have been enjoyed across age groups would have been a challenge, what Peter Jackson did was not. He just applied the 'Jackson Formula' to the Hobbit. He's not a film maker any more he's an accountant.
Why are you comparing them to Beanie Babies? The majority of Lego sets are purchased to play with, and unlike Beanie Babies there will always be interest in buying a set even for just it's play value, so there is a floor on the price.
I do agree though that if there is a mania over this that many will be burned....
I had a friend who was a heavy pot smoker and started have a psychotic break... eventually he blew his head off with a shotgun. I always had the feeling the weed aggravated his condition. I know plenty of pot smokers are fine too. Can't we entertain the idea that for certain people pot may be deleterious?
I am not going to beat around the bush then - if you eliminate crimes from a certain set of minorities that most other countries don't have our violent crime numbers would be much lower.
"ambient particulate matter pollution" could mean smoke from a wood stove in someone's shack or from a crude coal power plant. I don't see anything in the summary about autos.
Sounds like a lawsuit waiting to happen- tests like this might work well at finding specific compounds but don't work very well at finding toxins or impurities. Theses tests are going to give users a false sense of security.
I am not sure that I buy your argument- I think that the brain perceives more detail from more frames much like you can composite several images in PS to create a higher resolution image (very common in astro photography)
However if the extra frames reveal issues with props, make up or digital animation than they are self defeating.
I am from NJ too and was surprised that you didn't mention that it can be cloudy for weeks or even months at a time there. The sun is also very low in the sky during the winter. I am not totally discrediting solar but you will need a generator if you want to be protected from an outage.

Being on Earth is a death sentence too.
Imagine if the avionics industry wasn't regulated?

If you subtract government deficit spending we have been in a depression for several years.

Talking about juggling is pretty boring- check out some of his vids on youtube.
This would be a good way to tap the remaining energy from a low quality(low delta) heat source such as a power plant cooling tower.
Not to mention it could be done in five if scientists were actively pursuing this. Really this is more of a prediction about a change in morals.

Agreed. I saw this article a few days ago and thought to myself what a piece of crap it was, then /. sunk to a new low by posting it.
No other country has to deal with such a mix of cultures as the USA does. Comparing us with Japan is not useful.

Okay then, how many died in automobile crashes?
Just off the top of my head heavy metals and inorganic poisons such as cyanide are two things that won't be detected by gc mass spec.

I wonder if there is something more to this than just people being used to old technology. Perhaps there is something like a visual 'uncanny valley'?
Peter Jackson could have challenged himself by directing a well made children's movie that adults would enjoy too. Instead we get Phantom Baggins....
You can buy a device at Home Depot for 10$ that will indicate if a wire is carrying any charge. Maybe we should buy one for the line man?
Most people don't stay in a home for 10 years and you will not recoup the cost when you sell the house. In fact, it can act as a negative.

More importantly, it has been isolated for the amount of time it takes light to travel 500,000 light years.
