If you don't know the specifics, then why are you commenting about it? For
your information, its perfectly legal in Canada to intercept DirecTV satallite
signals. If he resides in Canada and is percecuted under U.S. law, its the
same situation that Dimitri was jailed for writing software that was legal in
another country. Just because something is legal/illegal in another country,
no one should persecuted in their own country if its legal in theirs.
I was just thinking about how this file is spreading and being mirrored across the Internet as we speak, and had a cool thought. Anybody see those maps of the Internet that thinkgeek is selling? How neat would it be if this file was somehow taggable, so that you would be able to watch the spread of this file across the global Internet? I realize that this is a bad idea in practice and I am not saying this for the purposes of tracking down anyone, just that it would be pretty neat to see how fast this thing spreads. I think it would be pretty funny and cool to watch. Just a random thought.

This may be a dumb question, but has anyone put any thought into hacking or
submitting a patch to the firmware of the Audiotron to play.ogg? Is the
encoder hardware or software based? Are there any hardware based solutions for
.ogg? Just curious, cause it doesn't sound like it should be too terribly hard
to implement. Any projects around to try to get.ogg support in various mp3
players (interested esp, in home and car based players)?
You say "Make up your minds, zealots" as if all zealots share some sort of collective group mind. It is entirely possible that within the group, some actually have different ideas. 8*)
Personally, I agree. I would rather have an ISP shut down infected users (who, I think, should at least check to see if they are infected, esp. with all the media coverage) rather then block ports so that I can't do stuff. Shut them off, let them call, inform them, if they haven't fixed it in 24 hours, shut them down again. If I was on the recieving end, I would just think that this ISP was being a responsible netizen.
If you don't want to hear it, then don't listen to it, you idiot. Don't try to force your attitudes about music on other people. Personally, I don't see how Louis Armstrong's "What A Wonderful
World" is going to pour salt in anyone's wound. Grow up and use your head.
If, (I hope not) Loki really does go out of business, are there going to be any
provisions for another company to take over support? Things like loki_update
and the other Open source tools that Loki has released, such as smpeg and SDL,
is development going to continue? I can see that but what about game updates?
Is an archive of patches going to be set up somewhere? Is enough information
going to be released so that if neccesary, the linux community can handle
problems themselves? Sorry if this has been asked somewhere else, but I am
just thinking out loud.
We have been dealing with this all day at my job (colo/hosting). Apprently,
it's totally memory resident, so a reboot should clear it. However, its really
spreading like wildfire. Also will hang Cisco 675s and 678s, so if you have
one of those routers (cable/dsl), disable web access. Also is hanging HP
printers with web frontends. The traffic alone is choking some of our smaller
routers. The patch is availible here.
On the main page, they have instructions for using cvsup. If you would rather
use cvs, here are the instructions.
export CVSROOT=:pserver:anonymous@anoncvs.kde.org:/home/k de

I only put this here cause I had to do some digging to find it. If anyone
wants the current source tree, its mirrored here
Did you even find out what ISPman does? It is not even a mail server, that is a
separate program.
I didn't say it was a mail server, I said its touted as "Exchange Killer". I
also said I didn't know what else Exchange did besides provide mail, hence I
was stating that the poster was welcome to look for himself. Don't be so quick
to flame.
If you're looking for a replacement for Exchange, there is a project called
ISPman, that is labeled an "Exchange killer". I don't know what else Exchange
does besides providing mail, but you might want to check it out and see. Do a
search for "ISPman" on freshmeat or go to ISPman's main web page
In a real quick response, that is exactly what happened in Washington DC, when
they first put them up. It appears that the local neigborhood drug dealers
didn't like the idea of a camera being aimed in their direction and proceeded
to shoot them out every week.
From what I can remember, since Slack 3.2, telneting in as root was explicitly
disallowed. You could only log in as root via tty1-6. Either your friend
explictly *ALLOWED* remote root login, or you are...mistaken.
Heh, and all you guys laughed at Jurassic Park

Its not like ANY protection scheme that I can think off hasn't been broken. So far, it looks like nothing will ever not be broken.

I think what you want is gentoo, then. From the home page:
gentoo is somewhat inspired in its look & feel by the classic Amiga program DirectoryOpus

I don't think you even have to throw in an Airport card. I believe all the new macs come with intergrated wireless.
