    No. It's called 1-Click Youtube Video Downloader. It lets me download MP4 or FLV for my computer, and 3GP files for slow connections (dialup; wireless). I love it. "NetVideoHunter" is my second-used program, for non-youtube videos like CNN or FOX News.

    "The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated [except via Judge-issued warrant]" - Or this one? "The enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people [like privacy]." - Or this one? "The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution... are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

    It's just a shame nobody in the U.S. Government obeys these laws and does whatever they can get away with, and even if caught, there are no consequences. IMHO we need one more law in order to keep these people in line (Amendment XXVIII):

    Section 1. After a Bill has become Law, if one-half of the Member State legislatures declare the Law to be "unconstitutional" it shall be null and void. It shall be as if the Law never existed. ----- SECTION 2. The Supreme Court will have the authority to review cases, and as part of the ruling declare these cases constitutional or unconstitutional, however the decision by the States (section 1) shall be superior.

    I like youtube for all the free episodes of Penn & Teller I can get. And the nifty Firefox addon that lets me download them to my hard disk. However I am surprised Showtime doesn't complain & yank them.

    I do that with my kid. Should I not do that? Am I supposed to be playing bloody games on my Wii instead? But I think most of those games are boring (slow as molasses) and not very challenging intellectually (button mashers).

    I doubt it's that simple.

    Why do I get the feeling Nintendo fans and Apple fans have a lot in common? "No no that's not a design flaw. It's a feature. The engineers know better than the customer what he needs. Just stand on your head and it will work." Disclaimer: I own 3 Nintendos myself.

    Actually I think Microsoft thought they'd have a repeat of Sony's success in 1995. Sony was a new player and yet they stole the #1 crown away from both veterans (Nintendo and Sega). Microsoft's press releases and stock reports indicated they thought they would repeat Sony's success and be the new #1, simply because they had the best console and most money to spend. To have sold ~100 million less units than Sony was hugely disappointing for them.

    And did their investment pay off? Even now they are still stuck ~40 million units behind the #1 company. They are still losing millions each year.

    That isn't even close to accurate. They were both released about the same time, and both were stopped approximately the same time (when the next-gen console was released). And for confirmation you could have just looked at wikipedia:

    CUBE: November 2001/May 2002 in the US/EU (the largest markets) until end of 2006
    BOX - November 2001/March 2002 in the US/EU until end of 2006

    I remember Cassette Drives costing $150 back in my Commodore 64 days (1984). That's why I didn't have one - only the parental units had that much money, and they weren't willing to spend it. So I patiently waited a year for another Christmas to come.

    I used to program in BASIC and then copy-off my creations on a notebook. Ugh. I only did that a few times and then the computer more-or-less sat idle for 6 months until I got my disk drive for Christmas. The following Christmas I got a printer. And then the next Christmas I got a monitor (which turned-out to be a waste of money).

    Yep. My parents taught me how to be patient.

    In this case I can understand why RUNscript was binary. If it had been a BASIC program, with tons of lines of DATA statements, it would have taken twice as many pages to print in the magazine. The binary/hexadecimal saved both space and money for the publisher.

    As I said in last week's Googe/XP story (which slashdot's search engine can't find for some reason), I have no tears for Microsoft. I've hated them since the 1980s. And not just because I go-round hating inanimate objects but because they have produced inferior products that were 5-10 years behind superior products from Atari, Commodore, and Apple. They've also done everything short of murder to eliminate competition (block them from running in Windows 3/4)(or sue them in court until they were bnakrupted). "Embrace a standard, Extend the standard with MS proprietary features, and then Extinguish our partners" has been their motto since 1990.

    In recent years Microsoft has produced some quality products..... XP (NT 5.x) and Seven (NT 6.1)..... so I'll give them credit for improving but they still have a long way to go. Anything that hurts Microsoft and helps restore competition to the computer marketplace is a positive in my book.

    When my brother setup his business, first he tried to do it as a proprietor but the State government made him jump through so many hoops (such as having to run an ad in the paper to announce the creation of his new business), that he eventually gave-up and incorporated. The system is designed to discourage proprietorships by making it hellish to even try.

    Fixed. You accidentally(?) failed to quote the whole wikipedia entry. There's no reference, so that sentence in wikipedia has no more value than an opinion. You proved nothing.

    As for the need to incorporate, we have the same flaw in the United States. You don't have to but the onerous regulations basically force people to form a corporation in order to survive. And of course a bookkeeper is mandatory unless you want to risk an IRS inquisition..... er, I mean audit.

    The people bothered most by the noise is the players. They've been the ones complaining loudest. Those of us in the stands or living rooms can stuff plugs in our ears, but the soccer players can not. They say they can't hear the refs yelling-out calls, or directions from coaches. It's disrupting the game.

    Such overkill.

    All you really need to do is press the mute button, and read the subtitles on the game. :-) Now if only Telefutura would translate those subs to English. DTV gives me 6 options for language - and they're all spanish.

    Hey man. In 1986 I had a high-quality Commodore Amiga with 4100 colors and hi-res 704x480 graphics. No pixelated nudity for me. We're talking near-photo-realistic here - like watching television. Yep. 32-bit cutting-edge technology is the way to go.

    (whispers). You got that new game? MicroProse's Strike Eagle? I have a cracked copy downloaded fresh from Europe on my faaaaaast 2400 bit per second modem. Also some topless Italians if that's your thing. ;-)

    Actually I think Nintendo did sell at a loss some of the time. Shortly after Zelda Wind Waker was released, Nintendo offered an awesome deal where you could get the Gamecube and WW for just $100. So in essence I paid $50 for the game and $50 for the Cube. I think Nintendo must have lost a lot of cash on that deal.

    And yes I always remind people that the Xbox and Gamecube TIED in the previous generation. Due to the built-in statistical error (+/- 2 million) the two are essentially equal in sales. If the Cube was a failure then so too was the Box. Vice-versa if the Box was not a failure, then neither was the Cube.

    The Cube did sell about 10 million less units than the N64, but I don't think Nintendo was hurt by it.
