The thing about changing between different USB versions is that they are all compatible with one another. I can buy an adapter and my mini-usb is now a micro-usb. From the story, it seems Apple is changing the connector to make people buy new cables, chargers, and accessories.
Windows 8 was made with touch screens in mind, and most people don't have a touch-enabled PC. Lots of people do have android tablets, however, so this is a way to see the touch screen features of Windows 8.
Since this is limited to 4.0 devices I think the beta tag is appropriate. I'm sure they will port it to earlier versions and eventually remove the beta.
What is the power consumption like on an x86 tablet vs. an ARM tablet? Seems like running Android, x86 would still be much less efficient than an ARM core.
I downloaded Mint 12 RC this morning and the new desktop is fantastic. The nice look of Gnome 3 with all the great features of Gnome2. Instead of telling users what to use, they listened and create a fantastic product.
The only reason blackberry is still in existence is because corporations and IT teams don't want to migrate to a new platform. Blackberry phones aren't anymore secure than an Android of iPhone with the proper corporate sync apps installed. Like many products, it became a standard even though a new and better product took it's place.
