I'd say hackers are more like buddhists, in that they seek knowledge by "dissecting" reality and observing it as it is, without right/wrong prejudices....and with a little of dudeism contamination, which is just cool.
Just add the.RND extension to your encrypted file: I bet that a certain famous OS wouldn't spot the difference... (it might also display "Random data" in the file description).
This technique is not portable though.

In Ireland (as in the UK), the copyright on sound recordings (so MP3s and whatnot) expires 50 years after the recording was made
Allegedly in UK expires after 50 years if the author is dead, or 70 years after his/her/their death.
