There's more, but I'm tired of typing and you get the picture...

  4. Windows on Linux, or a linux version of OS X? on What's up with Lindows? · · Score: 2, Interesting

As I was reading the faqs on the lindows.com, a thought came to me. It seems to me like Michael and the rest of the crew aren't striving to make a linux os that also runs Windows apps moderately well. In fact, instead of comparing this os to Linux w/ WINE, I would compare it more to OS X. It seems like he's trying to build a new operating system, based on a Linux Kernel. With these extra 10 million lines of code, there has to be a little something extra than some sort of buggy emulator. It seems more like a fundamental rewrite of how one would approaching running Windows apps on Linux. But instead of Mac sitting on top of Darwin, it's Windows sitting on top of Linux. Just like OS X can run photoshop (something designed around Mac) or various unix/linux programs, Lindows can run Office (something designed around Windows) and various unix/linux programs.

For anyone who can't see what I'm trying to get at, screw you for not being able to read my mind. Otherwise, I'm probably just full of it...

  5. Re:Bush's response on A Tale of Two Media:Tragedy and Images · · Score: 2

I'll give you one thing, Bush is no great public speaker. He gets nervous, he fumbles over words. Regardless, when he gets in front of the press, he has specific statements to release to the public. If I was in his place, I would have to read from the teleprompter to prevent myself from blowing up, or crying. Either way, he had a job to do and he did it under tremendous emotional strain.

If you had actually watched that press release, and his other speaches instead of trying to nit-pick the way the man speaks you would have seen enough emotion to represent how all of us were feeling. Go find a hobby and quick picking on our president.

  6. Dell Durability on Dell Notebooks Catch On Fire! · · Score: 1

All I know is, Dell had the guts to recall the system after one fire. As far as Dell quality, I've had the opportunity to beat up, drop, and generally abuse many 7000s, 7500s, and 8000s, only to have them keep ticking. But, I will keep my fire extinguisher handy...
