And that what you believe in today won't be laughed at by future generations the way you laugh at the church for not believing that Galileo was right. The universe didn't revolve around the earth...it revolved around the SUN. So even though Galileo KNEW he was right and people accepted what he said as truth for generations, we realized again later that the universe revolves around neither the earth nor the sun and in the end he and the church both had it wrong. This doesn't mean we had nothing to learn from him it just means, that though he really really really thought he had evidence that proved the universe revolved around the sun he did not have the tools to know EVERYTHING, and you certainly do not either.

Cars come in all different shapes and sizes and have evolved since the first car was built. There are things which can be categorized with cars like trucks, trains, motorcycles, that all have different purposes. I don't believe that when the first car was designed they saw all that it would become but they did not make it for no reason.

You could probably say it is on slashdot because a lot of technology is used in modern medicine, and modern medicine is a science. One thing the people not for this bill have been saying is that that our free market system encourages the best and the brightest to innovate because of the monetary gain, and if it is government controlled those people will look for jobs elsewhere. I'm sure there are plenty of people in medical tech, and medicine that read slashdot that are concerned how this will affect their jobs.
that's good to hear. I would eventually like to quit smoking but every time I have a cup of coffee I feel like I NEED a cigarette to go with it. I think I will have to quit both at the same time. OR medicine can fix cancer and I wont have to worry about the ill effects of cigarette smoking.

funny you don't mention any mmo's that came out before wow, or a regular rpg for that matter. I am guessing the folks you know wow is their first mmo or even RPG experience and trying the games you mention is more like looking for a new wow fix instead of a love for the genre. Otherwise you would have said my friends all played eq2 and Ultima, love the forgotten realms stuff and are looking foward to the new diablo(maybe). Anyways you just reinforced the point of the article I think..."They're WoW players and that's it". If a game that comes after wow isn't wow it better be damn close otherwise it is not worth the time amirite?
