I don't really think it's gaged on Red Hat. The international version of SuSE 6.1 has been out for a couple of months now.
The US (English?) version always lags behind a couple of months, and when it does ship it takes them forever to get it out.
I have a subscription, and they just send me the new release w/o my having to order it, but I didn't see 6.0 for about a month after it was realized.:(
It is definately a great distribution. I used to run Slackware, but gave up on it actually. I had too many problems trying to upgrade libraries and such and then having to completely re-install b/c my system didn't boot anymore.
They didn't come out w/ new versions fast enough. But - it was a great learning ground.
Too bad I can't install until after finals are over. But then again, I probably won't see the new version on my doorstep till then.:)
My parents drove me nuts around that age always worrying about where I, what I was doing, etc. And even now as an adult, I don't see the necessity. All it did was widen the rift between us - and feed anger towards them.
I completely agree with you. Of course, I have no relationship with my parents anymore. Haven't spoken to them in over two years, but that's for many reasons that I won't delve(sp) into.
I appriciated my parents being worried when I did speak to them and when I was younger. But after I went to college and came home after freshman year, it did nothing but piss me off.
It made me feel like my parents didn't think I was responsible enough to take care of myself and do the "right" thing. While at the same time, all I ever heard from them was how responsible I was.
I always loved when I'd go out during the week and I had to work the next day and I got the "what time are you going to be home?" question....like I didn't know to be home at a resonable hour b/c I had to work the next day.
I'm a bitter person when it comes to parenting, b/c of what my parents did and the problems I had. Along with when I see kids whose parents give them everything and don't make them work for things.
In the end, some ppl just shouldn't reproduce and should fall of the earth before they have the chance too.
The questions that come up are: 1) Is there a good source for Linux tuning info in one consolidated place (even if it's just links elsewhere)? 2) If not, who's working to make one?
You're right - there is no great centralized place to look, but what about the news groups?
I know the first place I turn to when I am lost is dejanews (after asking local friends).
The information is out there if you invest a little time in looking.
A lot of boxes run kernels so well tuned you can't even boot it on another machine!
What's your point behind that statement? If I backed up your Windows partition and installed it on my machine, who's to say it would boot either?
I would rather have the ability to fine tune my kernel so I know I'm getting max performance out of my hardware then using something generic that doesn't
but looks like it's not carried off nearly as well--an interesting juxtaposition.
for those of you that don't know - juxtaposition means taking dismiliar things and putting them next to eachother (together) to over emphiazize their differences.
wow - I can actually apply some of that useless knowledge i learned from my theatre appriciation class.
Actually, I heard that they established that Bert was already gay and he died from AIDS.
Of course, this is only what I heard, but I still thought it was funny.
These ppl need to get a life. A 1 yr-old isn't going to know the thing is gay, let alone know what gay means, so what's the difference.
Apparently Falwell is under the impression that these kids are "going to catch gay" from watching the show. (everyone remember that from the movie In and Out?)
Is it the zzdummy.dat file? (according to the SP webpage, it's a dat file, and the above is the only big enough to be the movie).
If it is, I don't know how those kids would have found it, b/c if you stick it in a windows machine, it asks what program to open it with. And unless those kids tried every program, I doubt they could have found it.

heh - my post has a score of 2, which is weird b/c I was posting at a 1.
oh well - watch that one drop or get moderated away.
I think they're marketting everything and anything w/ star wars on it.
Toys R Us has an inflatable swimming pool w/ Jar Jar all over it...that's just over done

And it takes someone with no balls to post that as an AC as well
could that even stand up in court?
People could just go back and say they were trying to stack the pools in some way and having fun.
someone's user account could also be hacked into, left logged in, etc - so would would ever know if the information was correct?
hehe - I was watching "Nothing to Lose" last night and I almost fell on the floor laughing when they got to the video camera in the truck...
(sorry if this isn't verbatim)
"The guy who sold me this just set up our network"
"Windows NT?"
"No, just windows"
I couldn't stop laughing. Obviously the movie industry is clueless.

Why should someone have to break the document up in the first place? Microsoft should put out a product that can handle it in the first place.
Everytime they relase a new Office Package, it gets bigger and bigger and shittier and shittier.
I wonder if we can go on war missions in the flight simulator that is hidden in excel 2000.

Isn't this type of technology the same as the plot of GoldenEye?

Let the kids have the show.

So when is the petition gonna start up?
