    It is a mistake to not account for human error. Human error is what the system lets someone do in spite of their best intentions. This places blame on system design, not the people with good intention who interact with the system.

  2. The latest version of Mac OSX 10.13 High Sierra is not compatible with versions of Microsoft Office in use at our house and my spouse's small business. For example, Microsoft Office 2011 for Mac OS is not supported or tested on Mac OSX High Sierra. Even versions of Microsoft Office 2016 prior to v15.34 are not compatible. So when/if we update Mac OSX, we will have to buy new versions of software AND perhaps deal with the O365 perpetual subscription mess. No, it is not feasible to migrate to Open Office because we have several large applications built on Excel Macros and Excel VBA.

    And even more courage to release a new phone with a headphone / microphone jack.
    I have an iPhone 5 that had the battery replaced under warranty a year ago. When I took it out of the OtterBox Defender case at the Apple store, it was pristine except for some rub-marks from dust that worked in between the case and the phone.
    The iPhone 5 meets my needs for now. If it were to fail, I would NOT purchase a phone that had no headphone / microphone jack. That does not leave many options in the iPhone lineup.

  4. Many residences have garages with automatic doors. For a small incremental cost, one can install a remote control with keypad that accepts a code to open the garage door. A delivery person could be asked to place the package in a marked cardboard box in the garage and close the door.

    Often FileMaker is used in environments with no Apple hardware. Apple sells more FileMaker Pro Licenses to Windows environments than Apple environments.

    Most times when people think about using flowcharts, they really should create state transition diagrams http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/State_diagram/ to discuss, describe, and document behavior. Statecharts are an improvement on earlier state transition diagrams and are included in the latest UML specification.
