Allow small businesses to pool into larger groups to get cheaper health care.
you know that's not bad, too bad he has only had 4 long years, and hasn't done it yet!
Provide tax-free health care savings plans for employees (much like flexible spending accounts are today)
Again 4 long years, plus the government needs to take in some money. Bush has been giving too much of my an my child's future away to his core supporters already (huge defict)
Medical liability reform to keep the lawyers out of the way.
Tort reform was promised in the 2000 election specificly. What make you think that he will deliver this time. Fool me once same on you, fool me twice shame on me. Also the medical boards should do more work on weeding out bad doctors rather than waiting for the insurance companies to force them out (much like how someone who keeps having car accidents cannot afford car insurance).
One of the basic troubles with health care is the weather you like it or not, you are paying for the uninsured. The big trouble is that the uninsured cannot see doctor on a regular basis, so when they do have a problem they march into the ER, where they cannot be refused service, with major problems which require big money. Add to that the costs of having literly hundreds of different plans, coverages, forms, and policies, which futher burden medical administration. We need masssive reform.
Can anyone deny that President Bush has not delivered? America the terrorists' No. 1 target has recovered from its tragic wounds and rebounded. It remains safe to this day.
Ahem, Bin Laden, has not been captured, and our economy is still hurting.
What might a lesser leader have done, faced with the daunting task of deciding America's course against withering, partisan attacks from Democrats, media propagandists, disingenuous U.N. officials and disloyal White House operatives selling their souls for profit during a time of war?
Ahem, Halliburton. Let us not forget that it was the Enron jet (Aerobus btw) which Bush rode to 'victory' in 2000. Now at least, he has a proper American made plane to ride to campain stops.
Americans should think back three years ago to the smoldering ruins of the World Trade Center. There among the mist lay the images and memories of fallen firefighters, police, a Catholic chaplain and ordinary working citizens moms, dads, sons, daughters.
President Bush, through heartfelt tears, told us never to forget the twisted carnage and the massacre of the innocents. Yet some of us are forgetting.
Hold tight to that vision, because it is the only thing that Republican's can point to. FUD.
So in conclusion, your single issue (like the Lowell Sun) is Sept 11, becuase that is the only reason they list. Some hard to pin down idea about who is stronger, nothing else that it.
I think that it just goes to show, that true conservatives cannot vote for Bush.
The Republican Party is no longer conservative, they are a bunch of various single-issue voters who cobble together for political strength.
As the debates progress, more people will see John Kerry, not as the man Bush and his cronies has spent million to defame, but as a strong leader, who really cares about the people of America and America's place in the world.
Other than a couple of retread ideas from his first campain (tort reform, etc) Bush has a campain based on attacking Kerry as weak; he cannot run on his record, so he tries to burn his opposition.
It's just another Malt Beverage (like Smirnoff Ice or Zima), just because it's made by a beer company doens't make it a beer, even by the loosest of American standards.
Really, the 'sweet beer' label is just a marketing gimic to cover for the fact that they are making a late entry to an expanding market.
Smoking crack while driving isn't safer under any reasonable circumstances.
So then, do you think that smoking crack may be 'ok' if you are not driving. Also are there any 'unreasonable circumstances' that smoking crack and driving may be combined?
Impeding the flow of traffic, however, has nothing to do with posted limits, but rather your speed relative to everyone else.
So, you think that you can get both a speeding ticket for say doing 5 mph over the limit and a 'impeding the flow of traffic' for not being 20 mph over the limit at the same time! Actually I beleive that you fail to understand exactually how 'Speed Limits' and 'Impeding the flow of traffic' are defined. I cannot quote all the lawa, but I do know that the words safe and reasonable come up alot.
Depends on what you mean be 'evolve', I'm trying to push a meaning of 'evolve' which indicates backward movement.
Really I see the problem as a lack of a proper 'new' word. This community's approach to 'recapturing' the word 'hacker' has been to offer only the word 'cracker', which has been previous well known as a food item and as a racial slur. Not to mention that it's too close to the word 'hacker' to start with. You would be hard pressed to find a word for say 'shopkeeper' which can be changed to 'criminal' by just changing the first letter.
Black Hat Hacker is commonly in use as a replacement for 'Cracker'. While I beleive that it is a good compromise, it is still too easy to shorten to 'Hacker'. May I suggest that we refer to 'Black Hat Hackers' only as a 'Black Hat' or collectively as 'Black Hats'. The good folks at Red Hat may have a issue with it, but I beleive that there are several advantages to the use. 'Black Hat' is a wild west term, and many refer to the Internet as the modern wild west. It already has a negitive meaning, but is generally only known in a historical context. It's part of a term already in use to describe person who uses their knowledge of computers for nefarious activities, but short enough to roll of the tounge and easy to type.
Of course this will only work if we (as a group) refuse to use the term 'Hacker' at all. Use the term 'black hat', don't explain it just use it; it's 'cooler' not to explain it. Of course since I just explained it, I guess that I'm not very 'cool' (DAMN IT).
I'd even go as far a replacing '[black hat]' for every instance of the word 'hacker' in the orginal text of a reply. For example, I wrote:
I'd even go as far a replacing '[black hat]' for every instance of the word '[black hat]' in the orginal text of a reply.
That whole ying and yang thing of matter/antimatter got me thinking about my evil self in the other universe. Since I have a goatee, does that mean that my evil twin is clean shaven?
I think it still sounds as absurd as it did when it first aired, perhaps more so now, because I now have a more educated appreciation for just what it takes to get into space, let alone orbit.
Many of the people who saw that ad had seen the airplane go from a powered kite to the jumbo jet. They had no idea what the future held, but they did guess that tourism would be part of it. Even more 'silly' is the 'home of the future', or 'the car of the future' from the same time period.
What we are finially seeing here is the first step to the hotel in orbit. I don't think that it will be all that big, most likely in 20 years it'll be a 20 to 40 person structure, with a wing or two devoted to microgravity manufacturing. I see it being used as a 'convention center', just not the big 'downtown' type that most people think of.
Driving in traffic, like much of life, requires rational adaptation rather than slavish adherence to the letter of the law. Sometimes it's more important to be safe than to obey the law.
So, under your 'condisional morality' if I am traveling though a Crack user infected street, I should consider smoking crack in order to be safer. Well *maybe* that's a little extreme...
Also you cannot get a speeding ticket for doing the speed limit, you must exceed the 'speed limit' in order to be issued a summons. Even then most judges will throw out a ticket for less than 10 mph over the limit.
I have been 'stuck' in 85 mph traffic (with a 55 mph speed limit), which is a little fast even for me. I doubt if any cop could even get onto the road without causing a major problem. Of course this would change when you car can report you. Even now the people using toll systems like EZPass can have their speeds calculated by the system. NJ police had started issuing tickets based on EZPass records and those actions were rejected by both the state government and EZPass itself, who both feared that using the system for law inforcement would limit it adaption by the public.
Nice 'news' link to an opinion page. Talk about...
have any more shrilled loony left propaganda to spread on/.?
Opinion pages are the fodder of conspiracy theorists.
Where is the outrage. The [current] administration released the name of a CIA operative, the wife of an Ambassador. It's called TREASON! Considering the fact the Bush likes to call himself a 'war-time' President, the sources cited by Novak (a right wing political hack himself) should be shot. I saw on one of his CNN shows, Novak saying that CBS should give up their source (before they did). *Classic*
The fact that Coca Cola thought they could get away with [selling bottled water] for real
I drink bottled water often, in particular, when I am out on the road. It's nearly impossible to find a public water fountain these days, and besides I wouldn't trust my health to most of them. For the most part, they are just decent well filtered tap water. Some are true 'spring water', with the 'minerals' intact, but most try to come close to just pure H2O.
However, It does amaze me that some people buy the stuff by the case for their home, and/or the most expensive brand (it's just packaged water, damn it!). Nearly everyone can get the same quality water from home with the right filtration process.
While sometimes over used by some people, pure packaged water makes a fine product and I believe that wherever you see a soda can vended you should have the opportunity to purchase the most important thing that humans need, clean fresh water.
Whine if they charge, whine if they don't. Can't make everyone happy...this post complains that they do show the documentary for free
no, I don't think that the post you refer to complains about it being free. Personally, I don't know that anyone would complain about getting something they want free. You might complain about someone offering something that they don't want others to see/use at all for free, but seeing how speach is (for the most part) protected...
It's not bad to make money off of a product, in fact I am happy that they are charging for it; fewer people will see it.
NPR really 'dropped the ball' on this one or rather should I say, 'dropped the name'.
Many sites will give details on the authors and interviewees' on the page, this confusion is a good reason why it should be done. It might not stop the confussion that I an most likely 95% of the other readers had.
I was reading it and saying 'Good Lord, this is the President's National Security Advisor saying this...". At the end of the article there was a link for 'More Commentary by Connie Rice' and it became obvious that she(?) is just another political commentator, who happens to have a very familiar name. However, I did like that article and the others from her were well worth reading.
I am not sure if the beam would diverge quite that much over any practical distance, but that would be a mitigating factor if it's true, because it's not a special 'type' of light but the concentation of light in a laser beam, which is dangerous.
In a different thread, he says that he (your post's Parent Poster) has said that he did read the article and attributes the accusations in it to disgruntled co-workers, etc.
One thing that I have to say about that guy (trb001), is that he sure is quick to defend O'Reilly and has some very specific defenses to attacks on O'Reilly's actions.
I watched O'Reilly for a couple of months when I found my cable company had FNC. He is mostly a right leaning motor mouth, who had developed a style of badgering his quests. It's no wonder that he doesn't really do the 'one-on-one' interview style where the interviewee is within arm's reach; someone whould have belted him by now (perhaps they already have...). Once you get over the whole "Jerry Springer" type confrontation (you know kinka fake, overblown, and forced), there is really little content to watch.
Getting along wiht people online is much easier than in person and by not getting real contact with people you turn into some freak with a weird laugh and who seems like they should maybe hang out with younger kids instead of their more mature peers. Look at computer nerds in high school.
Often we get a good laugh about the sterotypical 'computer nerd'. You know, glasses, pocket protector, lack of social skills. Hell, a running gag in this forum is "any poster with a girlfriend". Sure there are people who 'fit the sterotype' (however, I haven't seen a pocket protector since 'Revenge of the Nerds' came out), but I argue that they are in the minority of most computer users (even expert ones, like many of us).
Newsweek recently conducted a poll that shows that 42% of people still believe that Iraq was involved in the 9/11 attacks. How is this representative of an informed people?
Sorry, I'm confused here, are you "for" keeping people informed or against it. This post sounds like you wish people were more informed not less.
The vast majority of people have never been the victims of a violent crime, yet they live in constant fear of it.
Really, nice fact, where are your figures. I like to see both the facts on the 'vast majority' and the 'constant fear'. I'll admit that sometimes I am aware of danger, but that doesn't mean that I live in constant fear.
The people of this country don't seem to mind too much as long as they can watch Survivor.
I am a person of this country (the U.S.), and I personally couldn't care less about Survivor. Blanket assumptions and wild unproven accusations are a poor form of communication.
BTW, Personally I am supporting Kerry for President.
Flash drive. USB drive is ok, but doesn't roll off the tounge as well. Same goes for Keychain drive. Most Flash drives don't have the pen form factor so (I think) Pen Drive is inappropiate.
If people weren't subject to all the hysteria they see on the news, people would be much more content in their day-to-day lives. I'd much rather live in a society of content, uninformed people than hysterical, uninformed people.
Personally, I think that if more people watched the news, we'd all be a little better off. Part of the reason why some news shows tend to be a little 'over hyped' (if you will) is that they need to pull in viewers, while (at least often) trying to maintain the 'hard news' aspects of the show. Another thing, your post seems to me to be the manifesto of an aspiring Dictator; uninformed people are easier to control.
If people aren't aware of the latest "crisis",
Hiding your head in the dirt will not make your problems go away. While not ever story is important to everyone, most are important to someone. So, you can make the choice about what to watch for yourself, but not for me.
Are you on medication that you forgot to take?
Was that a double dose of medication you missed?
Why did you sink to cretinous attacks...
[There, you see? Sinking to needless insults is not the best way to carry out a serious conversation.]
Your very, very direct personal attacks are just way over the top. You jumped on my comment about a subject for a 10 minute talk to children and IN BOLD LETTERS indicated that teaching CHILDREN some basic flow-charting was something realy bad, hell you even changed the subject line. I took your lead and ran with it, perhaps a little far, but I never called you names. I directly quoted your 'arguement' and I thought, obviously took it a little to the extreme. It was never my intention to belittle you, just to point out the massive problems with your statements. If you took offense (obviously you did), I am a little sorry, but not very. I remember that I had a written line that went something like "You know that I am kidding here...", but I thought that it didn't flow well and it was way to obviously a joke. Hell, for a minute I considered that you might have been kidding around yourself.
In closing, I'd like to point out (since you raise the topic) that all flow charts are a total waste of time. Flowcharts used as program designs tend to force software development down untenable paths due to inflexible specifications. And people that "get along" with flow charts/Gantt Charts/MSProject tend to have very black-and-white views of the world, are usually very inflexible ("It's on the flowchart! It must be right!") and stubborn to the point of bankruptcy.
Now that what your previous post should have said, it's important to explain your arguement, not just pound out a couple of lines. Personally I see that you are way to wrapped up in the implementation some project. I believe that you found my simple comment on flowcharting as a place to vent your anger toward some stupid project manager who happens to like flow charts.
Various project management tools are only as good as the people who use them. Just like a keyboard can be used to produce wonderful inspirational prose or deep seated anger and hate.
Of course the subject of this discussion was ideas for a 10 minute talk to children. Despite your 'logical' arguements (from both your posts), I still firmly believe that children may and should be taught this valuable subject and a 10 minute discussion on some of the basics will not harm them in any way, unless of course in twenty years one of them comes into your office demanding to know where you are on the flowchart (kidding).
Thank god I didn't suggest that he give a presentation on how to use MS Power Point, you'd probally be on the road looking for my house by now.
