"When you infringe on a copyright, you are depriving no one of anything but just that -- a copyright."
Well, you deprive them of money that they might have received had you actually purchased the software.
MIGHT - is the operative word. And there is not MIGHT in a theft. Then something had been stolen, someone has been deprived. No might about it. That's why its not stealing. And this is not about semantics or splitting hairs - there is an important distinction.
-When you infringe on a copyright, you are depriving no one of anything but just that -- a copyright. No, you deprive the rightful/legal owner of the copyright the revenue that illegal copy would have bestowed upon them.
No, you haven't understood. The law does not agree with you. When you STEAL something you have 100% take deprive someone of thing. When you copy an mp3 you have deprive them of NOTHING. Because they person might NOT have bought it.
That is why it is considered theft.
Its only considered theft by those of low IQ.(or low moral)
That's why it's not only illegal, but immoral.
It seems the immoral part is keeping wanting payment for the same job over and over...
When we clean out the abusers and criminals from P2P and let the real people, the small-time, unsigned artists, get exposure, then we will have won. And I won't shed a single tear for these people who are fucking it up for the rest of us.
So your goal is to one of those who expect to get payed a million times for a job done once? Interesting.
When I buy a CD (which happens rarely), I convert it to mp3 and drop it into a directory on my hard drive. When I go to a LAN party, it is shared out along with ISOs (I create custom ISOs of my games and include the latest patches and nocd cracks, mainly because I hate looking for a CD to play a game) of my latest games. If someone wants an mp3, they take it.
They would have raided the LAN party, confiscated all the computers and given you a gigantic fine(think at least 5 digits).
First of all it should say "they make" not "it makes"
I shall consult an english teacher I trust.
and second of all, wtf are you talking about?
Its a soundbite, your sig can't be very long. Follow: most webmasters (>90%) don't use stylesheets as they were intended, namely as a relative definition. They define all fonts as ABSOLUTE sizes, if you do that the font size can't be adjusted in Microsoft Internet Explorer - ie, if your sight, like mine, isn't 20/20 it can be hard to read a lot of pages. If they had designed the pages with just a little bit of care, and used relative font sizes instead, they would be scalable and readable.
3. This only applies to 12 cm CD singles produced in Japan. Actually, it is applies to 12" singles FIRST, other companies have already expressed interest.
I mean, I like that Shanks will return as Dr. Daniel Jackson, but what we really need is for this girlfriend Lexa Doig to come on board, she is waste on that other crappy show:o)
The first chips for the Amiga (before it was called Amiga 1000) were called AGNES - somewhere along the line (perhaps a typo?!) it changed name and gender to Agnus...
Speaking of books online, don't forget about Baen Books, and their free online library: http://www.baen.com/library/ they know that allowing people to sample stuff for free online is good for business. So you can download many of their books, quite legal. The thought is, if you like it you probably want to buy something from the same author (much as it is with music sharing, according to Janis Ian)
I wonder why this crops up again and again. Brad Wright has previously said that he quite expected season 6 to be the last season, it was building towards something which would be continued in a SG1 movie. Then if there was interest he has an idea for a spin of series, based on a seed he claims to have planted back in season 1.

Nah, I'll keep stealing stuff until someone busts me.
Its a copyright violation, not stealing.
So, who the hell is this anti-piracy group?
They are the chosen representatives for the copyright holders in Denmark.
IANADL (D is for Danish) but I thought theft was a criminal matter
....
But since its not theft, but a copyright violation

They've got a term for this in America, we here like to call it extortion.
In Denmark they call it a Fine for breaking the law.
1) These guys are not the copyright holders and thus have no standing to demand payment,
They represent the copyright holders, they have been hired by them.
I thought P2P was supposed to be decentralized and less traceable? Hmmmmm?
It isn't unless you design a program to be anonymous, and most P2P are not. (Yet?)

Perhaps they'll try that in the US sometime.
12 cm, not inch... Metric system... Royale with cheese.
:)
Oops, excuse me
Don't even try to argue with him about the CSS stuff. I tried and got absolutely no where.
As I recall you just tried to ram your opinion that there is no problem (demonstrably wrong) down my throat.

...since your post didn't manage to do that...
As opposed to Legal Pirates? Which would be... what? The IRS? RIAA?

Uh, yes.

I still have an Amiga from before they called addded the "1000", perhaps I'll find the crate some day.
