The reason VHS won over BETA was not because of length, it was because of content. You could rent a lot more in VHS than BETA - they learned from that mistake. It doesn't matter how good the machine is if there isn't any "software" for it.
And the quality is no myth either
Well, lets Remember Data's word on The Next Generation : TV died as an entertainment form in the 21th century....
May be true.
Unless of course they allow us to download what we want from official sites...

"ADG Panorama Tools is a straightforward software that produces 360-degree Web panoramas. It does not require plug-ins, HTML, or Java programming. The tool features auto-stitching, auto-blending, Web page auto-generation, true cylindrical view, and output images filtration."
(while Voyager used its supposed allotment of 32 torpedoes in the first season alone),
They just replicate some more, that kind of limitation is not intersting, nor necessary
Not to mention the inherent time travel issue that comes up all the time and is never explained: now that Janeway's home, you can be sure that Starfleet will make sure she can't try to go back in time again. If so, then she won't guide the crew home, and we'll revert to the alternate future. In that one, Janeway does help the crew, and we go to the "real" future, which then brings us to the alternate future again. . . etc, etc, etc. This issue comes up in many episodes, where the actual time travel negates the reason for time travel in the future, which leads to this temporal paradox.
There is not one timeline, but an infinite number of timelines, this means you can create new ones but never eradicate exsisting ones, and thus that paradox can never occur.

Hey there.. I'm the "another web guy" you're talking about, and I've tried my best to make it be functional and readable at the same time.
That's nice.
There's 6 other skins. Take your pick. If they all suck to you, then sorry I did my best. If you're really that annoyed by it, you can try downloading the skin SDK and making your own skin and sending it to me:P
In order to use "skins" I have to create an account and login! (And create a mail account as well since you insist on an email address) I'm just seeing this site for the first time, I have no idea if it is worth my while or not, and i'm not inclined to go through a lot of bother to 'fix' the site when it appears that it's broken.
(And i consider it broken when i have to scroll the window left and right FOR EACH LINE OF TEXT IN THE DISPLAY, as i wrote above)
If it was something i was dying to get into, perhaps i would, but as i wrote, life is too short for badly designed websites
As for skins, they usually change the LOOK of the layout, not the layout itself. And the problem on your site IS the layout. Does your 'skin' sdk allow to change that as well?

My eyesight is not perfect, so I NEED larger fonts, so I increase the font size. And what happens? Well on properly designed websites (like slashdot) the text wraps, but on this site it simply EXPANDS HORIZONTALLY!
Meaning: I have to scroll left and right, left and right, left and right for each damn line I try to read!!
No way! It sounded like a good idea, but life is too short for badly designed websites.
Ok ok, So I know we haven't actually proven them yet. Assuming to the current thoughts (apart from this guy) is there something which allows for a black hole to be visible to the naked eye just after it has formed?
I've just watched Stargate:D (Yeah I know, that kind are hardly a found of serious info, but the show is kind of cozy)
and in one episode a team is caught on the ground when a black hole suddenly worms in the solar system where the planet is located. And the hole is visible from the ground - at least for the first few seconds.
The encoder is free. Unfortunately, it doesn't encode to AVI's, but to WMV's, which are not readable by every application. Regardless, if you don't mind using Windows Media Player (which I don't), you can download the Encoder for free and convert your existing AVIs. The quality is exceptional.
I tried with an AVI but when it was about to start the encoding it opened an errorbox and said soemthing about wrong encoding ?? Wots that?
The normal media player can play the AVI just fine.
What they hell are they doing? Trying to play macintosh suddenly? The media player looks awfull.. not to mention the screen realestate just doubled *grrrr*
You don't get anything for free...
Actually you do, but not much since there are to many greedy persons like yourself - one day though...
While I don't like banner ads, popup ads, or even advertising on television or the radio,
You should move over here, there are no adds on TV. However, if what happens to TV is what is likely to happen to the net, namely that advertizing money goes for the largest possibly groups, resulting in endless amounts of brainless crap (witness your infamous tv) then I say BE GONE ADDS - with what ever that entails. If someone can't afford to run a site, well too bad, good bye.
the people who provide the content that you rely on (for example I have no problem with the banner ad on Slashdot here. If I had some moral objection I simply WOULDN'T COME TO SLASHDOT. It would be moral theft to use Slashdot's hardware and programming without allowing them a chance at financial returns) have to make money
It's moral theft that they are stealing my money, the money I have to pay for the internet and phone connection to download the banners. If they need money, turn it into a paysite - if not, don't whine.
Capitalism is a funny and remarkable thing and it's very unfortunate that it is put into such a bad light capitalism n. economic and political system dependent on private capital and profit-making.profit --n. financial gain; excess of returns over outlay.
What people of low cognitive abilities(such as your self apparently) fail to see, is that the reason capitalism is cast in a bad light IS because it is bad. Instead of a system based on sharing, its based on a system using. So if it leaves the net, it's probably not so bad.
Once again, the geeks come out in droves and show me how spoiled they are. This Internet revolution is possible not only because of the software and design, but because of the money that's been dumped into it as well.
YOUR Internet revolution. How you dream it must be. That does not have to be how it actually turns out. A lot of us (most of us?) don't want all that add crap all over the place. If that means you, and people can afford to be there, well to bad for you. Goodbye.
And when you leave something else will emerge.
That which needs to be there will be there.
