    suing is not "causing bad things to others". it is simply asking a judge "don't you think this person owes me money because of his behavour?". The judge said no, case closed.

    Sure, as long as they pay the defendant's court costs for bringing such a stupid lawsuit, I'm okay with it. (as it is the article has been slashdotted so I can't read whether or not they did)

    Why is "natural" GMO acceptable and this not?

    1. There are many things they are doing that is not even close to possible via selective breeding.
    2. Selective breeding occurs over time, any negative effects (health, environmental) appear gradually (over generations) and can be tracked, studied and mitigated.

    If you artificially modify the genetics of corn, you no longer have a right to call it "corn" since it no longer is. It may look and feel and taste like corn, but you've made it something that isn't corn and calling it "corn" is false advertising and fraud.

    Not sure if troll. Yes, they fund "this kind of research", but to say they are "pretty much the only one of the large companies that [do so]" is absurd. Please see Hadoop's origins (Google). Oh and also IBM who eats this shit for breakfast.

    The Right to healthcare is based on many things, not one of them is theft nor coercion

    All taxes are coercion, healthcare is paid for by taxes. Please see the dictionary:
    coercion(noun)
    1. the act of coercing; use of force or intimidation to obtain compliance.
    2. force or the power to use force in gaining compliance, as by a government or police force.

    Medicare etc is *indirect* coercion (paid for by taxes). The individual mandate is *direct* coercion (do this thing or else).

    Incorrect assumption #1: I said nothing to imply that I agreed with him either way. I made factual quotes in response to "why you will never hear a politician say it.", not personal value statements.
    Incorrect assumption #2: I do not live in the USA
    Incorrect assumption #3: If someone disagrees with you, they are unpatriotic and therefore should leave your country.

    P.S. Again, I have not made any value judgements or opinions. I have stated the facts as they are. I personally believe in sociallized medicine, that doesn't mean I walk around blind to what it is.

    Yes, except for (non premium) shows they do not offer me a way of legally watching them (say I can't be home at the exact time they are on). DVRs can cut out advertising, all I'm doing is getting it via a different source. There is no net gain or loss to the studio either way. If my actions have not caused anyone harm, I see no moral objection.

    Generally when making opinion statements it is nice to back them up with facts. Please provide facts that support your claim that C# usage is based on vendor lock-in. Seeing as how you can write Windows applications in C, C++, Java, Python, Ruby, Delphi, or about 100 other languages - there is no reason why C# is a must on Windows as Objective-C is a must on iOS.

    Either that or you're just talking out your ass.

    You have flipped the argument on its head. I am arguing that iOS required Objective-C. You are arguing that Objective-C does not require iOS.

    For .Net, I am arguing that Windows does not require .Net. You are arguing that .Net requires Windows.

    So while your argument is correct, it has no relevance to the original discussion. The two arguments are completely different, and have very different implications.
