    Outside of Goldeneye, I have yet to play a good console FPS (haven't seen Perfect Dark yet). That's the only reason it's as popular as it is - it's not that great compared to PC FPS'es, but when you're used to eating dog food, a decent hamburger is going to seem like a feast. And I don't think anyone could argue that it could have been done much better on a PC.

    There are other hobbies which are FAR more expensive/wasteful. Boating is a perfect example - if you figure out how many days you actually use a boat, compared to it's cost, it comes out to hundreds or thousands of dollars per DAY of use.

    Who said anything about Xbox only having PC ports only? FYI - there are several console/arcade developers on board who have never produced a PC title directly (Namco, Koei, etc)

    Most PC game developers are still shooting for P2-300/TNT level users. Those of us with much more powerful systems are pretty much wasting all that extra power. On the other hand, a game that is specifically geared to the X-Box will have the potential to use every single bit of the processing power available. THAT is the advantage. (It amazes me how little thinking some people actually do...)

    64MB is a lot more than any other console has. And the kernel will be stripped down... i.e. much smaller. I would be surprised if it takes up 16MB.

    The *only* reason Serious Sam has any hype whatsoever is because they came out of nowhere and made an engine that competes with the big boys (id, Epic, etc.) If it were by any other well-known developer, people wouldn't care at all.

    Yes, I do. 'Cause ultimately, you're doing them a favor. How many sites are backwards compatible back to 2.0 browsers? Very, very few. You're just nudging those (who are behind the curve) in the right direction. Progress waits for no one

    I don't worry about older browsers, because 99%+ of our users are on 4.0 and up. That other fraction of a percent just isn't worth the additional work.

    I realize this is slashdot, where all things MS are evil, but c'mon - the majority of people have to deal with Windows... teach them on the most prevalent platform
