It only takes one coder to program AI to do whatever he sees fit (given enough expertise.) Seems likely there are a few out there who would get a kick out of being the guy that created Skynet.
I feel your pain. I just had to upgrade from my aging Droid 4 (with a pretty nice hardware keyboard.) I ended up going with a bluetooth keyboard/case for a Note 5. Not quite the same, but apparently the only viable option for hardware keyboard junkies who also like modern phones.
I was surprisingly happy with how well and easily it works. Streaming from my PC over LAN, as well as support for the well-known services like amazon, as well as many obscure ones . Not expensive. I used my Raspberry Pi with XBMC prior to getting it, but missing out on Netflix etc. is a big deal once you drop cable TV. My Pi is still happy as an emulator platform though:)
I have never used the FB app on ANY of my phones, yet yesterday a person I met via craigslist (and had absolutely NO other connections to) appeared on my FB suggestions. In fact, that particular FB account has NO friends on it at all (just as an experiment.) The person never used my wifi or anything, and GPS is always turned off on my own phone. Creepy.
MP3s don't have the features of FM (live announcements, local news bits, etc.) along WITH the music that you don't have to pick (how can you easily discover music if you only hear your same old MP3?)
Personally, I'm rarely outside wifi range-- but when I am, I never use data *at all*. I would much appreciate FM.
Using feminine pronouns as though neutral always irks me. Are they implying only females will now want to code? "He" can be a neutral pronoun, "she" cannot.
Not everyone does this. At least in the case of the commercial companies, we have a right to say no. That's not the case with the government, which is just as bad (only slower.)
They should learn to live off the land, we can send them to Alaska. That's how our ancestors did it if they were homeless. There's no excuse to debase yourself and become a panhandler.
It seems strange that all these issues with keyboards you have never happen with the millions of gamers *already* using mouse and keyboard. Most of us already memorized our keyboards, our movement keys, which are also configurable in almost every game (mine ARE on the home row.)
I'm not saying another input device might not be better, but keyboards and mice are already better than gamepads for first-person shooters. I personally favor a giant trackball you can walk on, along with perhaps a real rifle-shaped controller for the typical FPS scenario.
How do we know they didn't just make up the "success" just like they made up the fact they needed the "evidence" in the first place? All the information there was probably available as "metadata" anyway, right?
Since they couldn't force Apple's hand and set legal precedent to abuse, they had to save face and re-establish that "Our secret science labs can do anything!"
Nerds also includes those with interests in geology and other sciences. I'm a computer programmer, but I'm not here just for the computer news. There are better places for "just tech news."
Would it really hurt so bad if private information was you know, kept on a private network? It's not like everything in the world needs to be internet-facing.
Except it's not a billboard, or if it is, it belongs to Eich right? Whatever he puts on it is his business. If you don't like looking at "his billboard" don't use his browser. I'm a researcher and programmer, like many others on here. How many of you want to know that you're legally restricted from "some kinds of code that might hurt some random advertiser's bottom line?" Especially since what kind that is would be totally up to debate, but as you know... Debates in courtrooms are not the place anyone wants to be.
Remember, laws ALWAYS limit freedom. Not just the freedoms you gave up, but others you're not yet aware of.
Isn't it nice when they change policies like that? The Switch is essentially worthless to me now.

Self driving cars that can handle the roads in my area may just be impossible.
If code wasn't challenging, I wouldn't enjoy programming.
A slashdot nerd who is AGAINST video games? I don't think you belong here, turn in your card! :)

Agreed. If her job depends on good reviews and no bad reviews, her days were numbered the day she started work anyway.

This is slashdot, only a small fraction of us ever get to the girlfriend part, let alone wife and kids :)
D&D is nerd stuff if anything ever was. I daresay moreso than the internet itself.
One could say that Megaupload is doing far less that could be considered illegal. I would definitely trust them more.

Unfortunately, here in South Dakota,we really don't have those major multinational corporations. "Big city" to us, means a town of about 50,000.

Always assume all networks are insecure. You're always correct.
You can't put it back. In fact, it just gets bigger every year.
If every government in the world banned them, private individuals have the means to make them anyway with cheap materials nowadays.
