Fair Use might not be a right. But it is still the law.
These sound like battle lines being drawn. The *AAs have always resented having fair use forced upon them, looks like we are going to have to fight if we want to keep our fair use.
I'll agree that churches shouldn't receive government funding. However if you are simply equating their tax-exempt status as a government subsidy, you are simply wrong.
This is basically the whole reason for the separation of church and state. The government is not suppose to favor one religion over the other, having a faith based government is the fastest way to achieve oppression of religion instead of freedom of religion. Out fore fathers realized this and felt it was better just to keep religion out of our government. So the government is not suppose to support any one religion. Of course the current administration is exploiting the fact that the constitution does not have any explicit words about this and throwing the whole intent of it in our faces and spitting on it.
Unfortunately with Bush's "Faith Based Initiative" churches are now receiving quite a bit of tax money.
But it still does not change the fact that the GP is either a troll or living in an alternate reality from the rest of us. Lets see if he still feels the same way about the police after his hands get chopped off and he cannot use his precious gun. What a sociopath.
The existence of God has just gone unproven so far. Sooner or later someone will come along and prove without a shadow of doubt (probably by accident) that God either exists or doesnt exist, that is the only absolute truth in this entire discussion.
They seem to have covered their asses, since the guy broke into bittorrents computers without the MPAA's knowledge they cannot be held liable, if he had done it after they had hired him then things would be different. But they can also not use these emails in any trial ever again since it has been discovered they were obtained illegally. Bittorrent plain and simple sued the wrong party over this, in fact the MPAA could probably now sue this guy for entrapment also, by claiming he got the emails legally (he even signed a piece of paper) they could probably bring suit against him saying he was intentionally trying to ruin their credibility. I would not want to be this guy right now.
See, give them a little power and they will abuse it. Its the nature of the beast, 9 out of 10 people will abuse power not use it, that is human nature.
You dont seem to actually get it. Yes they are legally selling the songs on their site (in Russia), they paid the licensing fees to the music companies already. Just because allofmp3 is exploiting a loophole in the contract they signed with the American music industry (the music industry would do the same damn thing if the tables were turned), does not make it illegal, possibly immoral, but they are legally distributing the music in Russia. The whole issue is that allofmp3.com has a license to broadcast the music they offer, by Russian law people have the right to record broadcast music. AllofMP3.com just cuts out the middle man and allows people to do the time and place shifting on the music they are technically broadcasting right from their site (download the mp3 of the song), which is perfectly legal in Russia. The music industry is just pissed because allofmp3.com is doing to them what they did to so many artists in the past, using loopholes to make a buck off of someone elses music. Like I said, morally they are not doing the right thing (though it is a kind of perverse justice on the music industry), but they are operating legally within the boundries of the Russian legal system.
Thats because there is a reason why we have laws limiting the polices powers. She probably remembers a time before we had things like Miranda and probable cause and the police acted like jack-boot thugs. Imagine a world were the police would arrest everyone who fit the description of a criminal until they could sort out the real criminal (Im talking being formally booked). A world were the police could beat a confession out of you whether you committed a crime or not and not be held responsible. A world were a police officer could accidentally shoot you while trying to apprehend a criminal and you would have no legal recourse. A world were police could plant evidence on you, arrest you, Now pick up a history book about the police in the 20s and 30s and you will understand why giving the police the powers we are giving them is a bad idea.
Right thats why partisan politics sucks. Research the candidates and vote for the "person" you feel will do the best job, partisanship is for the ignorant and lazy.
Hella yeah! I am a human being, when I have problems I like to speak to another human being. I cant bitch to a machine. I cannot ask a question outside the standard scripted questions/responses programmed into a machine (same problem exists in a lot of outsourced support, but thats another issue). Good for you Netflix! Im a human being not a revenue stream.
Thats because DRM is designed to screw over the customer. This is what the media companies want, to make it as hard as possible for their customers to use their products (someone kick me in the the head, please). This is the future until the customer gets tired of it and stops buying these wackos products.
No, most of the criticism centers around the fact that it seems these police officers are so clueless it tooks millions of tax payer dollars (in purchasing the data mining equipment, cameras, etc.) for them to discover something that should be obvious to anyone trained in law enforcement. And frankly appears to be more obvious to a bunch of nerds avoiding work than the police force in question.
They should and they are not, what does that tell you?

Well then you dont want to live in this society, or any society from your statements.

A great teacher I once knew said "A good student learns in spite of his teacher."
A corporation is not one single mind.
Yes its a hive mind, sort of like the Zerg.

It was the same gang at the top all along, uninterrupted.
Geez I wonder if the current administration knows about this reincarnation thingy.
we will see that each republican will continue to screw US at will.
You are perfectly right, and that is because Republicans are too stupid to see that their party is broken.
See, give them a little power and they will abuse it. Its the nature of the beast, 9 out of 10 people will abuse power not use it, that is human nature.

Governments will learn when politicians learn that monopolies are something other than just a way to pass payola around. In other words, never!
So what you are saying is all the acid the boomers took in the 60s is now manifesting itself as paranoia?
Or how about the next Iraqi terrorists.

they're just as bad.

Actually there are three sides to any story, yours, mine and the truth.
that everyone in DC is fscked up?

Yes but dont forget, just about the only thing France and England ever agreed on was to throw the Puritans out.
The devils greatest lie is not to convince us there is no God but to convince us that the evil we do is Gods will.

This is all the music industry is about these days. Its been like this for a while now, you just noticed?
