When the diesel is underwater it's running on battery power, rather limited. To run the diesel engine they either have to surface, or I've heard of some using a snorkel device, but it has a very limited depth that can be used at. (And no, a longer snorkel doesn't work). Of course, there is lots of noise from the turbulence from the body of the sub itself, and especially from the props. There has been development on alternate propulsion methods that are inherently quieter, but as far as the governments will admit, it's just ideas and not actual hardware. Of course, there is North Koreans known skill at working with state of the art cutting edge sciences and technologies. So, about 20 years after you can buy a kit using it in your local ToysRus, NK might have a semi-functioning prototype.
Wouldn't it be funny if they had been captured and evacuated by somebody else. Totally overwhelmed and completely unharmed, then put up in a nice and comfortable, but secure, modern location to enjoy a week or two off before they get put back in their sub and allowed to return to port? There'd be some statement about communication issues, or maybe more bullshit claims about NK superscientist developed a new submarine cloaking device that runs on unicorn poop or something. But of course, their leaders would be scared shitless by an event like this and know they have absolutely no chance to win, no matter how much LSD they do. And as to the crew that went through that, they'd be a hell of a lot more likely to say F it, and defect if they got the chance. That could make a great movie, I'm thinking comedy.:P
It's the ruling elite that don't want to change, of course, they are only a tiny minority in the entire country, but they tend to execute or disappear those that voice disagreement to anything they're doing.
Except a Trojan and a Virus are two entirely different types of malware. Back to the topic though, the D.A. is talking out his ass regurgitating hollywood movie bullshit in an attempt to stir up fear in the ignorant masses to get what he wants. I bet he still believes computers run on pixie dust.
So, does anyone remember how when the bullshit stuff they kneejerk passed over 911 basically let the cops get away with a lot of bullshit, but they swore up and down that it would never be abused or used for anything other than terrorist related stuff, and that it could be even if they wanted to? So anyhow the feds have been going around to the local cops for several years now teaching them how to use that 'anti-terrorist' stuff to apply to virtually anyone and get away with a ton of shit they aren't supposed to be doing in the first place. What makes you think this will be any different. Besides, this isn't a one time thing in Apples control if Apple gives in. It will kill trust in Apples security, that'll hurt the company. Since it will have been done once, it suddenly becomes easier to duplicate by someone else, even if they don't eventually get their hands on that 'restricted code' because no matter how careful people claim to be with digital files, they always seem to leak. Don't forget as well that this will create a precedent, and then the government will just demand that the security cracker be used pretty much anytime the cops/feds/whatever can't figure it out, or would rather go have a second donut instead of doing the work. No matter how you slice it, developing a way to bypass the security of that dead mans phone so they can root around and maybe find clues of some other criminal activity or person that may never have existed is a really bad idea, unless you jerk off to 1984 on an hourly basis.
They didn't refuse to cooperate, they refused to engage in the process to develop a tool to defeat their own security system. It's kind of the difference between giving a mugger your wallet when he demands it, and bringing him to the bank to cosign for his Small Crime Business Loan then babysit his kids for a few hours while he goes and mugs some other people.
He has a long history of doing unethical and dishonest things, including lying and ip theft in the software industry. I'm not just talking about when he ran his company, but him personally. Of course, it's not like he's ever been taken to court for it, and very little of it was ever published that I'm aware of, but still, even if you do firmly believe that most people are basically honest, do not include him with that group.
If a backdoor exists, it can be used by anyone with the skill to break in, which is much easier than trying to break in the primary security of that system because otherwise the backdoor would be redundant and probably wouldn't even exist in the first place. One of the primary securities to a backdoor is the obscurity as people don't try to open the door that they don't know is there. Of course, as soon as they find out about it's existence by whatever means, it becomes vulnerable. This is why any and all reputable company will tell you in no uncertain terms that backdoors are security violations.
Don't forget that any backdoor that isn't specifically customized to that unique installation, is probably using some kind of group key. Of course that means that as soon as you get the key for one of those doors, by whatever means, you instantly have total access to all of those doors. Backdoors can be identified by analyzing the code, though it can be laborious, especially if it was obfuscated, even if you have open source code. (These days most backdoors are obfuscated.) Though with the potential payoffs, there are serious incentives for certain people and groups, especially among governmental agencies, to do the work.
Only if your personality is that of a nutcase, which definitely applies to him. He's been licking that acme toad for a long time now, but it's finally starting to get covered by some of the media.
He makes me uncomfortable being on the same planet, but there's nothing that can be done about that. I've seen him as a nutcase since the 90s. I'm just surprised the media finally noticed.
Anonymous has a huge tendency to target the wrong people and have done so very publicly many times. Just look it up. Shall we mention, for a small example, a certain credit card company that didn't use sufficient security with their customers data and it got stolen, so then Anonymous goes and posts the customers personal information. Wow, talk about targeting the victim! I guess they couldn't get around to posting the companies financials, or the details about the company officers so they'd know what it feels like....
So anyway, since Anonymous actually seems to have targeted the right person this time, I think now would probably be a good time to look into investing in a ski shop in Hades.
Of course he's also using a known flawed data set for that purpose, the data we currently have on all verified exoplanets. For the most part, they are super-Jupiters, really big gas giants that look like Jupiters bigger cousins. As to rocky type planets, we aren't finding all that much at a near Earth size, and I hear most of those are in contention as data analysis issues and not actually verified as existing. Even so, those have been relatively close (in astronomical terms) because our detection capabilities are so limited compared to what we'd want to do a decent search for Earth sized rocky bodies in the so called Goldilocks Zone.
Lifestyle choice... Yes, like not starving or trying to avoid having to fight the rats for space in an unoccupied alley. As it was, she seemed to be doing poorly on the former, and barely better than that on the latter.
It doesn't matter if you do as there are fewer and fewer unions anymore, and more and more regulations to prevent union busting and other such actions have been eliminated, gutted, or circumvented.
This is an issue regarding what is security software. If you have a reputable and competent team, you have no backdoors in any released product, EVER! Sure, you have to follow the letter of the law, but you also won't take one step outside of that to violate your security software either. First, it's something that if word got out, would seriously hurt your business. Second, it's not your job to do that. Third, why the F@$# would any company go out of it's way to do some three letter agency's development of spytools without getting paid for it?
It's not going to happen judge, you might as well be telling them to build you an antigravity app for your robes, it's never going to happen no matter how much you scream and spew.
Really boring an overused attempt at trolling to try and move the conversation to your favorite political whipping boy. Please try again. No wait, don't bother, just stay on the subject of the thread and take your flamebait trolling home. Thank you.

Maybe it's more like Bahama Vacation.
:P

I don't think anyone in the world has ever come close to dehumanizing the people of North Korea nearly as much as the Government of North Korea.
Nah, just go to North Korean, they've apparently already discovered a cave of them. :P
I wonder if the D.A. has already booked a tour for himself.

Except for that whole thing about critical electronics being exposed to a location where a big bird can shit on it, and it wasn't Sesame Street.

All backdoors are screen doors, the only question is who currently knows it's there and walks in to raid your dresser?

Yes, but it's not like he could schedule a convenient attack time with the US Navy or anything.
Ok, back to nutjob Mcafee and busting into apple gear.

That would be to add additional charges to him, since I'm pretty sure doxing and cyberbullying are illegal in most of this country if not all of it.

they add the words "in an aircraft" to several old inventions. Yeah, real novel concept that....
