The same logic means that there is no safe level of cycling If we stop drinking becasue there is no safe level of alcohol, will we also stop cycling, swimming and all the other activities that have some risk of of injury but are nonetheless fun?
"Large but dim" - they need someone to be named after. The Donald has boasted about the size of his hands and his, ahem, stuff. The Donald Trump Galaxies is the best name.
I suggest you download and watch Idiocracy: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0387808/
Birth control by smart intelligent people who care about the planet is just a way of handing it over to stupid uneducated people who don't use birth control and don't care about the planet.
If you wouldn't vote for people like that in an election, why on earth would you hand the future of the planet over to them and their descendants?
There is an old adage; everyone hates government spending except the government spending they benefit from themselves. In this case, almost every article Matt Ridley writes says how bad state aid is. Except when he was head of a bank himself, when times were tough he went to parliament with his hat in his hand to beg for a taxpayer bailout and suddenly state aid was a great idea: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matt_Ridley#Northern_Rock
If you want to change Matt Ridley's mind about state spending on research, give him a job in a research lab and watch with wonder as articles praising state aid for research emanate from his greedy mind.
I got 2300 Bitcoin in 2011. I sold 500 at $119.99 earlier this year and bought a nice car. I sold 900 at $997 and am in the process of buying 3 rental apartments for case. I still have over 1000 Bitcoin.
Once you get Trusted on mt.gox you can withdraw $500k per month. Its not enough to do arbitrage but its not small change either.
I am not alone - lots of people have made huge profits on Bitcoin and we expect to make more. Its designed to work even if its made illegal to own Bitcoin. The price has always fluctuate violently because the markets are so small and liquidity is so poor. But its the most interesting social experiment on the Internet and I love being part of it.
You can't stop them calling you unless it costs them money do change your number to a premium rate one. Give your friends and family your cell phone number.
Blizzard sued my company in Germany and we are still trading. The reason is that Americans can't avoid the broad restrictions of the DMCA while Europeans are able to work within existing copyright and trademark law. The DMCA is simply a way of closing creative American companies so the business is done from overseas.
You need something to make you get out of the house and walk 20 minutes at least twice a day. Get a little dog. I've 2 Bichon Frieze and without them I would need surgery to get off my computer chair.
Alzheimers can be 20 years in your body before it causes problems. There is no effective treatment. Forcing people to take this test early would simply mean that otherwise healthy people have 20 years of their lives ruined waiting for Alzheimers before the disease itself starts to affect them.
A lot of of the people who rave about pre-Tramell UO are people who fit the "Multi-player appeal to the Killer" label Bartle uses.
Sadly they needed 1000s of "Multi-player appeal to the Socializer" players to feed on. Beign griefed is not fun for such a person so UO failed to grow. No other game that allows griefign will be fun so you won't see them get developed or launched.
WoW allows griefing on PVP realms - you have to opt in. Most of those realms are empty for the same reason.
Swine flu is a serious thread to people who are already chronically ill. If you are seriously ill, you are likely bed ridden and pumped with cortizone, steroids and other drugs. And as a result, of course you have a poor body mass index. Its a miracle you are even alive. Swine flu comes along and is the final straw, your body can't take another illness.
Geo-engineering may make people think that we can carry on as now with no sacrifices. This article tries to re-inject a sense of fear. Its like saying "OK so the vacuum cleaner is good at cleaning the floor. But does it paint the garage? No? Well back to cleaning the floor with a mop then"
Surely we deserve a more rational debate? Sacrifices are needed but sophistry will not persuade anyone.
BT still owns the all the backbone connectivity and makes obscene profits on it. Taxing users in order to make more connections to that backbone monopoly is totally wrong.
They want a captive audience. Advertisers love a captive audience. Shareholders love a captive audience. Its us poor slobs in the audience who object with our irrational desire for freedom.
From TFA "As does any advertiser, we aim to give our campaigns a budget"
Come on, what you are doing is bidding whatever it takes to get the sport you want.
That pushes up the price for everyone else. Good for you but bad for your customers.
There is never a case where you lie awake at night worrying if you have bid too much.
"Do no evil" is a great motto and Google is a great company. I feel that they have not considered this from the point of view of Adwords buyers. I'd be surprised if they are still doing it in 12 months. Google would no longer be the Google we love if they are.
They said they could not keep up with Sony and Microsoft for technology a few years ago. There was even talk of them becoming software only. Yet here they are, focussed on gameplay and fun, and doing brilliantly. And of the big 3 they are the only ones makign a profit.
Sony has not let its buyers down with a console yet.
Everyone who buys a Sony console knows there will be many games for it. With that kind of franchaise amd market mementum, there is no way sony will skip releasing a Paystation 4.
The only question is when will technology that is exciting enough to display the new games be ready?
My guess is that they will find that nude characters evince strong reactions, increased heartbeat, faster breathing and perhaps even 1 handed surfing. They will recommend this to their clients. Blizzard are beta testign this idea by adding pretty Blood Elves to the World of Warcraft Horde.
From TFA "The government will be expected to begin complying by June 1, 2007."
In other words, no need to rush to use up any credit you have bought - we have 7 months before they begin complying. And given how fast legal process work in Russia, we are most likely looking at 2008 before things get serious.
I am grateful to Sun and so is everyone who uses free software. Its just heartbreaking to think of the amount of effort that has been made obsolete by this decision been taken now instead of 10 years ago. A huge opportunity was wasted.
Just think if Sun had done this in the 90s. There would never have been a GTK/Qt appliactions split because all software would have been written in Java. Assuming the deveopers allowed open source fixes to the performance, Linux, Mac and Windows users would all be using the same free applications and the desktop OS would simply be a JRE support system. A huge investment of volunteer time in GTK apps, in Qt apps, in Mono apps, in the now obsolete ClassPath project - all that work could have been productively spent developing Java applications..Net would never exist as why would anyone bother? Sun has lost huge amounts of money over the last decade on software and subsidised it with hardware sales. As a GPL project, Java will be considerabley less expensive to them.
Its great that Sun have finally released Java. Its instructive to see that all they achived by 10 years of keeping it under a restrictive license is huge financial losses for themselves, the emergence of.Net as an alternative and the waste of the volunteer labor of developers who should be Sun's greatest allies.
A computer virus may stop your computer from working but its not "violent" - its not going to walk up and punch you.

Really its like you didn't read the article :p
Osama bin Ladin used have that problem but its been solved.
Seriously, what kind of developer would even notice a $5 charge? Even modestly successful apps make over $500 per day.
