  10. Re:If the shuttle was a political compromise on NASA Unveils Design for New Space Launch System · · Score: 1

Initially the rockets will be able to carry into space 70 tons to 100 tons of payload, NASA said, which would include the six-person Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle capsule and more. Eventually it will be able to carry 143 tons into space, maybe even 165 tons, officials told the Associated Press. By comparison, the long-dormant Saturn V booster that sent men to the moon was able to lift 130 tons. The plans dwarf the rumbling lift-off power of the space shuttle, which could haul just 27 tons. The biggest current unmanned rocket can carry about 25 tons. Read more: http://www.foxnews.com/scitech/2011/09/14/nasa-to-unveil-giant-new-rocket-design/#ixzz1XwZ5jLiC

  17. Re:Difficult Read... on Renewable Energy Production Surpasses Nuclear In the US · · Score: 1

Exactly. TFS mentions "'energy produced from renewables is 77.15 percent of that from domestic crude oil production.", but doesn't bother to mention that part of that is due to the fact that domestic crude oil production has been falling for decades. It's kind of deceptive.

Robocalls piss me off, and definitely push me away from whichever candidate the call is supporting, especially if I didn't have a strong opinion to start with. They are the telephone equivalent of spam or junk mail, both of which I pay no attention to. However after glancing at TFA it looks like there is more to this than just that - they were actively trying to keep their opponents supporters from going and voting, which crosses the line from tasteless to deceptive IMO.

For BitCoin simply to place it on their list of recommended good practices is not sufficient and, quite frankly, irresponsible. If experience has taught us nothing else, it's that the average user has very little concept of how to secure their data, and if it is to be done correctly it needs to be at the application if not the OS level.

Hell, I'd be willing to bet that even if BitCoin were limited for use exclusively by IT professionals and CS majors, we'd still be seeing stories about people being robbed.
