So you can still jump on board if you want to. There are (as of right now) 33 hours left to go. And I wouldn't say squeaked through - people are still funding the project, and there is a healthy overshoot of the funding goal.
That doesn't seem to stop people in the UK building in flood plains. I think you'll find people will keep on building in risky areas, accept the financial hit in case of a flood, and keep an eye on extreme weather warnings. After all, properties built in such areas will be cheaper as a result. But then bricks & mortar houses don't tend to float away in floods.
I think Blizzard seem to be undecided about whether Diablo 3 is a single player game with multiplayer elements or an MMO that you can play single player. If they made the decision one way or the other, or released two versions, the outrage would never have come up.
It's probably worth noting that the Open Pandora PowerVR chipset is OpenGL 2.0 ES compliant. Therefore if you want a decent Linux based environment to play OGL ES with, that's the place to start. Except the first batch is sold out. Oh dear.
My first knee-jerk reaction was the same as everyone else - this is a blatant rip-off of several game's graphics. However, if as is reported this is a point and click adventure, and it is just set with screenshots from other games as the backdrops, there may not be a copyright or even plagiarism issue. Screenshots would not require the 3D data to be copied out of the source games. After all, Resistance: Fall of Man had that scene set in Manchester Cathedral - and the Cathedral couldn't exactly claim copyright on the design! You'd get the same problem with any game set in front of/in a real place. So this is almost an about face of that concept. So controversial - probably. Free publicity - definitely. Illegal - probably not!
I got to the 'Test of Fear' section, and just can't get past it. Getting the joystick twitch at just the right millisecond seems beyond me. It's a shame 'cos up until then I was addicted.

I look forward to the removal of goatse, tubgirl and 2 Girls 1 Cup from my poor tortured mind.
