All this will wind up doing is forcing YouTube to block Italian IP addresses. Problem solved. Then it's up to the outcries of the Italian people to get this retarding ruling reversed.
Read the other comments. Atom tablets will be running Windows 7. ARM tablets will most likely run some flavor of Android. Not only will the Wintel tablets be double the cost of the ARM-Android models, but they'll run like crap because Atom is underpowered to run Windows 7.
Because of the OS. You're not going to run Windows on an ARM platform. And I'm betting that's what you're going to find on almost all the Atom-based tablets. And we know that Atom + Windows = fail.
The thing is that when you have an ARM chip you're not trying to run some flavor of Windows. It's the only reason to use an Intel chip. And if netbooks were slow and sucky I don't see how tablets based on the same platform are going to be any different.
And copyright law was never intended to be used by billion-dollar corporate entities for extortion against ordinary citizens. Nor to bankrupt them with million dollar judgments. But you do it anyway. Hypocrisy much?
He also needs a primer in the difference between "stealing" (a criminal offense) and "copyright infringement" (a civil offense). But what do you expect, he's the chief of the MPAA. Clearly not a job that requires any kind of intelligence.
Wait, I'm WHIPPED because I have a brain and can distinguish between truth and hyperbolic fiction??? Oh that's a good laugh.
I don't have any issues with Flash cause I use a Flash blocker, so it doesn't matter to me at all.
The point of the article is that having *multiple* Flash-heavy pages open in your browser for *multiple* hours is going to eat up battery life. And I say, well DUH.
Other tests have shown that Flash is not significantly more resource-intensive than HTML5 or Silverlight, so at best this article is nothing more than a Flash-bash, which of course is typical from the Cult of Jobs. Now while things with HTML5 *might* change as coders get more efficient blah blah blah blah blah, the fact is that right NOW that's not the case.
Anytime you have multiple videos/animations running in multiple tabs for long periods of time you're going to see a drop in battery life, whether they're using Flash or not.
You mean running animations in the background on multiple pages eats CPU cycles??? Oh noes! Geez, I wonder how Jobs' little darling, HTML5, will manage to do animations without using any CPU power?
I swear every day it's another retarded "report" about something equally as retarded.
I should clarify this: polling is fine as long as the results aren't made public. It's a perfectly legitimate tool when used by the candidates themselves. The problem comes when polling data is blatantly used to influence the public.
Typical scumbag response. So as long as you turn a profit it's all ok, right?
Clearly you don't get the point. Sometimes it's NOT about the profits. Sometimes it's about doing what's right and not taking advantage of others to pad your own wallet.
Yes, there are plenty of people in plenty of professions that have no issues with doing it. Doesn't mean it's right or that they're nice people. Just bottom-feeding scumbags.
And really, he does this "work" because ultimately it's easier than getting a real job. And maybe the thrift store owner isn't interested in selling his books online and prefers to deal with people in person, pricing his wares according to what his patrons can afford. Not because it's "work" but because it's not the kind of business he wants to run.
I bet you're the kind of guy that would have no problems taking food from a food pantry and reselling it. Hey, it's just free market capitalism, right? Money makes the world go round, right?
And I think you've allowed a figure of speech to crawl up your ass and die. Take a nice big shit, unbunch your panties and chill out dude. You're clearly wound much too tightly.
Scumbaggery comes in all forms. It's not just for thieves anymore.
But at the same time I'm sure most people would rather see the books go to those that will enjoy reading/owning them rather than some guy who is vulturing thru the tables looking for something he can resell.
I mean, a library is all about being free for everyone. And to have someone come in and try to profit from their operations is distasteful.
Now if they did something like allow these schiesters to come in at the very end of the sale to go thru whatever is left over and didn't otherwise sell, I think I would be ok with that.
I don't think I'm quite ready for a cricket burger with cheese and two strips of cicada bacon.
Nook Color. Good specs, cheap price, and rife with hackability.
I saw this coming, but no one listened.
All this will wind up doing is forcing YouTube to block Italian IP addresses. Problem solved. Then it's up to the outcries of the Italian people to get this retarding ruling reversed.
See, but if I drop $500 or more on a tablet I expect more than "OK". I expect great. For $200-$300 OK is acceptable. At $500-$700 it's not.

Install Windows 7 on there and let me know how well that works for you.
Because of the OS. You're not going to run Windows on an ARM platform. And I'm betting that's what you're going to find on almost all the Atom-based tablets. And we know that Atom + Windows = fail.

Didn't the plethora of netbooks teach us the Atom processor is woefully underpowered? Why does anyone think it's going to be any better in a tablet?
Awww, extortion is sooo haaaard... poo poo pity. Better luck next time. Wah-waaaahhh, thanks for playing, buh-bye now!

So basically it's a phone from like 10 years ago?
Wait, I'm WHIPPED because I have a brain and can distinguish between truth and hyperbolic fiction??? Oh that's a good laugh.

Anytime you have multiple videos/animations running in multiple tabs for long periods of time you're going to see a drop in battery life, whether they're using Flash or not.
Or, Adobe could add a switch to Flash that stops it from rendering video/animations not in the current visible tab.
Of course the whole point is moot if you're using a Flash blocker app. And really, who isn't?
You mean running animations in the background on multiple pages eats CPU cycles??? Oh noes! Geez, I wonder how Jobs' little darling, HTML5, will manage to do animations without using any CPU power?

Exactly. Which is why it should be outlawed. Polling serves no useful purpose to the public and can only hurt candidates, not help them.
Basically you're telling us what we've already known for decades... that polling is retarded and highly inaccurate.
I can guarantee 100% that I will NEVER visit a site that implements such a retarded system.
Careful Stevie J, your crazy is showing.
"Buying books from a thrift store and selling them on Amazon for a small profit is a lot different than taking food from a food pantry."
The fact that you don't understand there is NO difference means there is no point in having a discussion with you.
I'm sorry you believe what this jackass does for a living is a-ok. But it's not.
Typical scumbag response. So as long as you turn a profit it's all ok, right?
