PuTTY itself is a very nice app. PSCP, the SCP client that comes along with it, doesn't work as well in my experience. Using PSCP, I get transfer rates of ~200Kb/sec on my 100Mb switched network, where using scp under cygwin (tranfsering the same file, between the same machines) regularly transfers around 1000Kb/sec. No, I haven't reported it.
I thought Graffiti was neat in 1995, but after using the Newton 2.0 HWR from later that year on until I retired my 2100 last year, going to the Graffiti-alike on the Zaurus is really, really primitive. From what I've seen of TabletXP, that HWR looks like what I'd really like to use, but then I'd be stuck running XP:)
The GPL does not prevent people from making compatible software that is proprietary.
Huh? If it's proprietary, only the owner can produce it. Did you mean "The GPL does not prevent people from making proprietary software that is compatible"?
(I'm not attacking you) It says 80 hours of continuous MD operation. It doesn't say the disc was spinning all that time. Goddammit, PR flacks, how many hours of standard, 1x portable CD player spin time is that? How many continuous hours can I leave my incandescent flashlight on? Give me a statistic that means something!
I haven't paid for an MP3 encoder, and I'm not going to play that game. (Yes, Thompson/Fraunhofer could theoretically pull a patent out of their portfolio that affects Vorbis, but they haven't yet)
Someone coming out and admitting he made a mistake, but at the time was trying to do the best for his company deserves respect. We need more people like that in the industry!
I think you mean that he regrets having made the deal with SCO because the deal was shady. I didn't get that from reading the article. In particular:
"We got the hate mail, we got the group of people who interpreted our agreement as validating SCO or endorsing SCO or any number of things," said Marsh.
"All of a sudden we went from being reasonably good guys to being, in some people's eyes, akin to the devil. And that's certainly something that weighs heavy on our minds, because we always want to do the right thing," he said.
So how does Marsh feel about the deal nearly a month later? "Would I do it again? No. I'll go on the record as saying that," Marsh said. "I certainly know a lot more today than I knew a month ago, in a lot of respects."
Though Marsh admitted that EV1 has lost some hosting business since the deal, he said it is not out of line with the number of sites EV1 loses in a typical month.
I read that to mean he wouldn't do it again because everyone hates him now, not because the deal was a bad idea. I could be wrong, though.
Even Japanese/Brazillians moving back to Japan have difficulty apparently - and they have either 1 parent or several grandparents that are Japanese.
The one thing that really took me by surprise when I was (barely) studying Japanese was that people of Japanese descent, born outside of Japan, when returning to Japan, had their names spelled using katakana rather than the original ideograms.
Katakana is generally used to spell words borrowed from other languages.
"We'll beat you blue till you shit in your pants" becomes "We'll beat you blue"
"There's six of us bitch, so suck on my dick" becomes "There's six of us" and I want to say they did a sloppy edit on "bitch" so it comes out "bi..." but I don't remember for sure.
I had 5 kids under the age of 10 dancing to the censored version of "Police Truck" in the opening of THPS1 this weekend. And it brought a tear to my eye.
I believe so. This is the same Royal that got reamed when they were caught pilfering Palm, Inc. code. It turns out I have one of the DaVinci's that contains the stolen code (My mother's husband gave it to me about two years ago).
had a "hidden" track on the CD of Peace & Love, Inc. that was a 300bps 8-N-1 modem squeal that (if you could get your modem to talk to it) typed a message out to the screen. Then on Don't Be Afraid he had another one that (supposedly) was the first part of an "Internet scavenger hunt". Heh, the "winners" look just like you would imagine they would...
SE Michigan (i.e., Detroit and its leeches :) is fairly left-leaning. You should see the rest of this wacky state.
You Revolting Cocks fan you. "And, I can tell you the official number of dead, is numbered at 38"

Ignore me, I'm a doofus. I was reading too fast. A thousand pardons!

You forgot:
Darl McBride -- Cowbell
Back before Bungie were owned by The Borg (cheap shot -- sue me), they had a April Fool's prank going by the name of Pimps At Sea. So between this and Down And Out In The Magic Kingdom, I claim to have seen this before.

And everyone's problem with voting machines is that the voter doesn't get a receipt. This doesn't fix things.

Why would anyone steal 85% of OfficeXP?

Troll!
Let's translate:
$YOUR_SIGN is mass market bullshit. $MY_SIGN, is actually cool. The fact you can't see that is your loss.

I swear I parsed that url as friend-o-fishmael.org. Can I get that supersized, please?
Oh god, those lust for life commercials...
Anyway, there are two bits covered over in THPS:
"We'll beat you blue till you shit in your pants" becomes "We'll beat you blue"
"There's six of us bitch, so suck on my dick" becomes "There's six of us" and I want to say they did a sloppy edit on "bitch" so it comes out "bi..." but I don't remember for sure.

From the "Brief Intro" link on that page:
Only Bozos know anything about OS licenses... :)
