Where's the link between "the computer profession" and having a degree in Comp. Sci.?
most of the people I know (admittadly mostly men) in "the computer profession" do not have comp. sci. degrees.
There are many paths into working in this industry, a degree in comp. sci. is only one of them. The smartest people I know do not have a degree, much less one is CS.
F is a very powerful letter, some would say more so then any other letter combined. and obviously if there was one letter that win the US control over the internet...it would be F.
I have a Sun E450 (these can be gotten cheap on eBay, but you really have to find the right deal). Upped it to 2GB ram and 4x400MHz Ultra2 CPUs. It holds 20 SCSI disks, so getting a bunch in there and RAIDing them is not a problem at all.
that is a pretty good solution..but it might not fit the submitters "low-power" constraint:P
If you are dead set on low power then I suggest you invest in some fun ways to occupy your time, and a good stress ball, because you'll be doing a lot of waiting...
pffft! screw that, hook a stationary bike up to a generator! then make sure to get those SpeedStep processors...one person can pedal, the other edits videos.
"common, pedal faster! I gotta render this scene before next week!"
ED I & II were horror films that were ended up being sorta funny...with Army of Darkness they pretty much gave up trying to be a horror, and just went with the comedy.
The cynic in me suggests they have a deal with Red Hat.
what kind of deal would they have? Something like if Rackspace exclusively uses Redhat, then Rackspace gets free versions of Redhat Linux with full access to the source code?:P
It's probably that new girls fault. Apparently she has a degree in biology.
I miss Jill Decan. She was great. It was nice to have her back over the Christmas break.
Daily Planet (link) is a pretty good show. It was called @Discovery Canada, but changed a little while ago. It runs on the Discovery channel here in Canada. Read the site for more info.
US export laws forbid the export of strong crypto from earth. I mean, we wouldn't want passing aliens to get a hold of the all-American Made AES! Who knows what they could do with it! It could mean the end of American civilization as we know it!
It used to be that Slashdot would post new release info as soon as some popular package came out, sometimes before the mirrors got updated, everyone bitched. Now they wait a bit, people bitch. yeah, sure they still posted a direct link to redhat's ftp site, but at least they posted a link to where the mirrors are:)
maybe they are trying to push those people that are close to buying an XBox over the edge..."better get and buy it quick! You can't hack the new one!".
time passes, hackers get new XBox, hack it, those people who said they wouldn't buy the new XBox because of the limitations it had go out and buy one.
(the above is not necessarily true, just one way to look at it)

Welcome to the internet, things move slowly here, and always have...but wait until Internet 2.0 (currently in beta) then things will move really fast!
(yea, yea, I know there is an internet2, it's a JOKE OK?!)

hahhahaha...I read that as feces and cattle prods!
I'd love to see this happen....not really for my desktop, but for some appliances that could be fairly cheaply built on this type of hardware.
What about "Git Isn't a TLA"
thats the difference between a CEO and CTO.
infrared? go RF! It's soo much nicer. Why haven't they caught on more?
Thats a pretty good idea, I mean why spend $40 when you can spend 300+?!
(j/k)
I was replaced by a small perl script, so I have no reason to get up anymore you insensitive clod!

yea, and at 2.27 Mbps (Mega birds per second), that would be quite intense!
apparently so does +1 Funny.
check out UCARP. It's a userland implementation of CARP....enjoy!
She managed to appear a few times and didn't mention the theft once.
maybe they just noticed that it they were missing now.....
Have a look at www.nss.co.uk. They do a pretty good review of gig NIDS. I think it costs like 50USD though.

It's just a bunch of jpg's on a non MS site. Just pointing out the obvious, what verification do we have these came from M$?
