ROFLMAO! I still can't believe you mentioned Jason X>!?!?!?! Hahahaha. That movie is the biggest piece of trash to hit movie screen since the its prequel.

Summarily William Gates, Founder and CEO of Microsoft Corp was quoted as responding, "It looks like Ellison is going to get a headstart on the excon IT market. Looks like he finally beat me in something."

Yes the above was meant to be humorous. Yes its a joke. Yes I find it extremely amusing that for all of their proproganda on the subject, Oracle may be subject to stiffer criminal liabilities than MS ever has been as a result of this scandal.

Who knows how many state or federal officials they have attempted to bribe? This could really blow up in their faces.... well at least we still have IBM DB/2 to compete against the monster that is Microsoft.

I would estimate that it will be here for at least another 3 years. As for the online gaming - guess what? The XBOX already has that capability now and the PS2 still doesnt have it. Thats not to say that the PS2 wont have it (which it obviously will since FFX is coming out for it) but they are a bit late to the game, dontcha think?

Also please refrain from drooling so much over FFX. Its just a game. Strike that. Its just a game thats going to suck the majority of your life away because it will require an even larger time investment than the single player FF games.

I realize that their are probably some Alpha and Sparc owners on this board and in the community but how many of those people are actually running Debian? Are they really comtemplating dragging out their already elongated release schedule because of two platforms that the vast majority of Debian Users dont care about?

I dont particulary care for Debian myself - but this all seems rather stupid. (1) Because they shouldn't have waited until the last minute to break the news (2) Because its a rather frivalous reason. Alot of other distro release x86 first and Sparc/Whatever later on. Why can't Debian do that?

Oh well I'm sure they will get it worked out in due time - until then I'm sure more and more people will begin to think of Debian as a dead distribution rather than as an active one. They really don't have anybody to blame but themselves I mean they are the only ones shipping a distro that still uses the 2.2 kernel.

I mean watching that guy at a speech or an event (which isn't very often either) reminds me so much of Weekend at Bernies that its just kinda sad.

But when you guys talk about Hollings keep in mind that he lives in a state where the congress wastes their time whining about taking down or putting up some stupid confederate flag. He lives in a state where there are towns in which it is ILLEGAL to buy alcohol on a Sunday. He lives in a state that outlawed Video Poker but legalized a lottery because they wanted to get their cut.

So no matter what comes out of that mans mouth - I don't think it matters much. The other bill we spent so much time whining about didnt get very far so why should this one be any different?

Not to mention the fact that I haven't got a single Microsoft branded game installed on my machine - yet all of my other 3rd party games appear to work fine. I can even install OpenOffice or StarOffice if I would like without even having to uninstall OfficeXP no less!

Yes but your example using OSX is flawed by virtue of the fact that OSX has some of slowest browsing on the face of the planet. If you'd like I'll provide a valid link on this subject.

As far as the HTML help files are concerned - I'd be interested in knowing whether or not you could view Apples help in a non Apple "browser". If you were a bit more knowledgable about your OS you would know that Apple has embedded their own HTML rendering component for the help system.

Its also funny that you mention selling IE for $5 when for $15 dollars I can purchase an MS addon to Media Player that allows me to rip music directly into MP3 format. This of course diminishes the value of your next point.

I do agree windows could be modular though I'm truly at a loss to see who it would benefit. Keep in mind that most consumers have next to nothing in common with most of the people here and they don't particulary care to install five different browsers, twenty text editors, and fifteen window managers. We may enjoy it - they probably won't.

We all know it can be done. Have you seen embedded XP lately? The contention here is whether or not the Government is within its rights to force Microsoft to "strip down" their product. I don't believe that this is the case - though the courts are the only ones with opinions that matter in this particular instance.

Either way why would you ship an Operating system without a web browser? Sure you could ship Windows with Netscape but isn't competition a good thing? The only reason Netscape 6 is somewhat of a decent product is because IE pushed it into overddrive. The fact that IE is shipped with Windows is no more a point of contention nowadays than X being shipped with any Linux distro. (Okay maybe not all of them... but you get the point)

Anyway I'll probably get modded down since I've dared make a comment that doesn't equate Microsoft to the Antichrist. Oh well sue me. I've still got my Linux box and my Windows XP box running side by side day by day. They seem to get along well enough, so why can't we?
