Assuming this lone gunmen actually has more insight than the rest of the establishment--possible but not frickin' likely since he mistakenly believes that cooler local temperatures (CA cold snap) are in conflict with our notions of global warming--this single aspect is not really enough to go once way or another. There are still a number of variables in current climate models with unclear implications i.e; aerosols. This is one of the reasons that you get "wide" ranges of possible average global temperature increases. Maybe the cosmos really is cooking us, but then its also possible that global dimming offset that.
There are no more internment camps, slavery or segragation. Mistakes do not go on and on. Also note that warrantless wiretaps and searches are being done by the same people espouse the One True ID. Sure, market failures can be corrected, but by whom? Why the government of course; else they would not be failures in the first place.
You must forgive the GP, he's drunk the bottle labeled "The Market Can Do No Wrong," mistaking this as an antidote to the bottle labeled "The Government Is Necessarily Evil."
a) No, not exactly. Driving is a right granted by the state.
b) You only need a driver's license for a delivery or livery job.
Other employers may require some mform of identification, but
it need not be a license.
Again, NO.
No shit. You're driving, and they want to see that you're licensed.
Imagine that!
Correct, you could present a state ID, passport, or other acceptable
document (generally government issued).
Re: Bloggit, that's not exactly true. I dislike Office period, and MS and Mac equally. Yet, it is frustrating as fuck to try and use Office X and have all the keyboard accelerators "broken". Umm reread what the GP said. Sounds to me like that's what they're doing, but... When they tweak the world users have to download any corresponding sounds, maps, artwork, etc.
a) 'culture' ne 'race'. For instance to mock the Poles is not racist. Bigoted?
Sure. Racist? No. b) You clearly do not get Andy Kauffman, which is really what "Man on the Moon"
was about. But that's fine, most people don't, and even those who do don't
necessarily dig all his material.
They're on the internet and they're providing a service aren't they?:-P Heh, they're right up the road, I thought they were based overseas, or maybe that was excite.
I never said it was the most efficient mechanism. However, transit (that includes shipping goods) and residences each account for about 1/3 of american energy use; ~30 and 40 quads respectively. Personal vehicles make up about 1/2 of the transit energy consumed, and that again is 50/50: cars and pickups+SUVs. Roughly 5 quads of residential energy use is electrical. I don't know how much of that is lighting but that along with heating and refrigeration are traditionally its major uses in the home. Also, in commercial buildings lighting is about 40% of energy use IIRC. AFAIK no cars (excluding electric, and they indirectly) are running around powered by coal. Finally, consider that there is far less tied up in light bulbs than cars and trucks.
All numbers (except for commercial lighting) are cribbed and rounded from "Sustainable Energy: Choosing Among Options," Peter, Drake, Driscoll, Golay and Tester (2004).
Is is short-sighted/ill-conceived? Sure. But you're also misinformed, CA has the highest number of hybrids per capita. Are there wanna-be cowboys driving inappropriate vehicles? Sure, but you've got them in almost any state of the Union.
Buy the right bulb, they aren't all shaped the same.
a) the roughly bulb shaped spirals usually work best for tight spaces b) pay attention to the size of the base/ballast, some (older) ones are *huge* c) don't get an overly high rated bulb as they are larger, 8 or 13W is usually good.
There are CFLs with "bulb"-shaped shells, of course you lose some light. LED fixtures also work well/better for the refrigerator situation; instant-on. Hg is a valid point though, if they insist on this instead of proper subsidy/tax and education, then they need to be sure to adequate education and facilities are available for recycling of CFLs. Not only do they contain (trace) Hg, but quite a bit more high-grade materials than incandescents (which should be recycled too, though the W is probably "lost").
But you don't have to close everything off all at once, it should also be rather obvious from the fact that so many of them were *not* on bridges but instead high on building signage, that they were not a threat and *intended to be seen*.
What if the daughter I don't have was on a hypothetical bus near one? Well, that would certainly be unfortunate, but shit happens. Or in this case it didn't. What if you had a heart attack and the ambulance couldn't get to you because the roads were blocked off? Or an elementary school caught fire? All of the recent over-hyped "potential terrorist" incidents pose truly negligible risks and do not warrant the attention paid them.
Niven's Law #4 v2: Giving up freedom for security is beginning to look naive. Formerly, "F x S = k, The product of Freedom and Security is a constant."
Heat lamps? Some deal. Sure they're technically incandescent, but not designed to produce visible light. Of course, as others have mentioned, they ought to tax the bulbs (or energy use) instead of this half-assed approach whch will lead to cold fries.
Gah! It's not a hoax! Turner did not place things out there, and request $1 million ransom. NOT A HOAX. Stupid? Sure, all around. Intentionally malicious? No.
And yet, you could check one and see that it's innocuous and then not make such a big deal about the others (though still check them). Sure they were on bridges, but they were also on used record stores, Blockbusters, etc. etc. Them be some prime targets...
Maybe you had some magical version, or I did, but I was always required to install 98 first. In any event, there's little difference between having old media vs. having an old install other than an half-hour and a data back-up.
How the fuck does this get modded "Insightful" when it's anything but? Everyone bitching about states rights, privacy and freedom could give a flying fuck about these documents which are already on record (though birth certificates are generally held at the county, but required for SSN)
Ahh, thanks.

FR too, hence the intro to that machinamation after the Parisian suburb riots.

#1 You've misread the text. Regardless, it's a judegement call.
#2 Errm no, see the problem alluded to isn't number of men available, it's their
ability to get anywhere when the major thoroughfares are shutdown.

98 SE upgrade required a working 98 installation.
Erm, no see, 65^2 or 70^2 minus 55^2 is non-trivial, 1200 and 1875 respectively.
Obviously drag et al. complicate things, but kinetic energy is a decent first order approximation.
