I was looking forward to watching this show, I really was. I thought "Hey, maybe this'll be better than Voyager!"
But what do I get when I do my post-work-shift slashdot load? Right at the top of the page, semi-spoilers. Now I know what to expect in the first episode! Geeze. I work evenings, see... so I don't get to watch these things until they have aired a few times on reruns, when I can fire up the ole VCR... but the main thing is, I don't get UPN. From the comments I've read, some people are complaining that they're on the west coast, that they haven't even had the chance to watch it - but some/.ers don't even get UPN - we have to wait for OTHER networks to pick the show up and show it! Please keep that in mind for when you put up stuff about, oh, let's pick an example here - the Lord of the Rings movie. Not everyone is able to see it first-day-first-showtime... Check the poll - a lot of us have work. And that doesn't mean we all work from 9 to 5, either.
In Grade 4, I transferred into French Immersion. My homeroom teacher, (meaning my teacher for everything except Health, English Language Arts, and Phys Ed) was named Ray G. Gamache.
He is, without a doubt, the kindest soul I have ever had as a teacher. Not to say that he didn't have his good moments... Like his habit of getting the class' attention by smacking his yardstick on his desk...
Nonetheless, he would take our class into the computer lab(he was in charge of it at the time) for French Language Arts and for Computer Class(natch) and even for some other classes.
Now, before I went to Ecole Bannatyne, the only thing we got to do in Computer class was lame learning games like Find the Number or the precursor to Mario Teaches Typing.
At Ecole Bannatyne, our computer class was given the following options:
1. Play games
or (this would be the most important choice)
2. Learn BASIC.
If it were not for Ray Gamache, I would have never gotten into computers like I did, and if he were alive today, I would thank him time and time again.
The only other teacher that would come close would be Tony Woodroffe, my Graphic Arts teacher. Nice guy, but a wee bit on the 'old sk00l' of Graphic Arts.
Anyway, that's my two cents.
Savage.

GPG vs. PGP?

When I was young, the advice from grown ups was "do not sign anything you don't have to, be it a contract, a letter, a memo, anything. If you sign it it means that you meant it, if you don't is just idle chatter".
I disagree with that saying. Signing a letter, a memo, or an e-mail says "I did this." Signing a contract is a whole 'nuther can of worms though...
Now, with PGP (I have no experience with gpg) I have always had extremely long keyphrases. Those people who know me know that fact, and they trust any PGP signature that checks out. That way, they know it's from ME.
Although this isn't EXACTLY on topic, and has probably been said before, I feel that this is worth mentioning. My friends and I noticed that(South Park: Bigger Longer and Uncut) it's very similar to how World War II got started.
Instead of Adolf Hitler, Kyle's Mom. Instead of the Jewish people, Canada and Canadians.
Songs aside, plot aside, Cartman's final battle aside, the Bill Gates death scene aside, the movie made me think of much more than just how Kenny died. It made me think of how people act about offensive material. It made me think of how many parents rely on the government and the like to regulate what their children should and shouldn't see, do, etc. Censorship is only around because the masses demand it, not to interrupt the rights of others, but to make it so they don't have to watch their children 24/7. It also made me realise that we take way too much for granted. --
The ISP I do tech support for, AT&T Worldnet uses Brightmail... any Worldnet users on here using it? And if so, what's your thoughts on it?
Beh. Ya beat me to it. Oh well.
Their Flash program will say ALL numbers are copyrighted, no matter how long.
I smell a hoax.
Try 1234567890123456789012345678901234567890 - it's apparantly copyrighted - yeah right.
Anyone who has enough time to copyright phone numbers has enough time to work a second job to earn money only to donate to charity.
I work at a call centre for one of the three largest national dialup ISPs in the USA... I talk to enough idiots, thank you!
(For 50 SE-points, be the first to guess the ISP!)
Under the Fair Use Doctrine, I'm allowed to create derivative works, aren't I?

This IS off topic, but ON topic.
