    So what's the distance between the cam and the laser beam? I mean, a cam reacts to light, and here it shows a laser pulse advancing within a few ps, but that advancing light needs also to reach the sensor (or whatever it is)...

    Thermal paper rolls are cheap. Thermal printers are damn fast.

    Apple also makes pretty long receipts. A short receipt would give the customer a sense of a "cheap" item.

    There is science, and there is maths. Python is ok for routine science, R for math+.

  13. This is called the legal system, where laws are to be observed. I don't like Google taking/using private data, but otoh, if the "Group" couldn't make their stance clear in court and win, that's not the court fault. Hope they get better prepared for the appeal.

    Fortran is a level above basic, and it compiles to ML.

    They removed that line for legal reasons. They could have been attacked on this, even in the past, "being evil" is too vague and subject to interpretation.

    Depends for what. Python is slow, and if research involves tree searches or monte-carlo ... algorithms, even PHP is faster. I'd go for Java or, faster, C++.

    Hubble had been operating with four of its six gyroscopes when one of them failed on Friday

    So, 6 - 1 == 4

    After the gyro failure at the weekend, controllers tried to switch on a different one, but that was found to be malfunctioning. That leaves Hubble with only two fully functional gyros

    And, 6 - 2 == 2
