    I tried it once in a VM, It worked quite well, and the first time encrypting is not too slow :)

    My solution to the laptop problem is to take out the drive and put it into another pc. I've never actulally used loadlin :)

    Then the solution should be to make one easy utility for the common tasks, and when you need more you get the cli. (or another gui tool wich is more complex then the easy one.)

    hmmz, on my laptop I installed 8.04 then upgraded it to 8.10 wich almost foobared it. done a new 8.10 install, later tried upgrading it to 9.04 and it worked perfectly...

    my advice is skip the .10 releases they seem to go bad. not just because of this one time but many others...
