    Well, once you move water heating to a solar heater or gas heater and if you live in an area without need for Air conditioning, 2kW is much more then enough
    my home uses less than 1kW after excluding AC and water heating

    vi makes me press [esc]:wq (2 keys for :)
    Word OTOH lets me press + then enter, so 3 keys

    Hardware is nothing special, just the cheapest Samsung that was available and the other is the cheapest Sony with DivX support that was available
    But as someone else pointed out, could be because they are DVD only and not Blueray

    Last time I checked, my DVD player did not take 45 seconds to boot up, its instantaneous: just like a TV or VCR
    detecting the disk takes only 2-3 seconds
    (Have both Samsung and Sony players)

    Not really, most of the country is a monopoly, some parts a duopoly. very few areas have more than 2 providers (excluding high speed wireless which is prohibitively expensive for anything other than browsing)

    Usually the block is on IP basis and not DNS level
    I cant say about the current one since my ISP hasnt implemented it

    The block is being implemented by Reliance because it is releasing a movie on Friday
    Think of it this way: If Warner Brothers had an ISP as well, and they blocked filesharing sites for 2-3 days before and after a movie is released by them, and they blame it on the govt. since the govt. gave them the permission to do so

    The block is being done by Reliance on Reliance connections because a major movie released by Reliance is being released

    yeah, clean install, everything on auto, no special settings .

    Installing Ubuntu for general use takes about 20 minutes
    The countless frustrating hours spent trying to imagine how a document should look, and how it does look are a different story

    Well, it could be the other way around also, Metro being the base interface and Desktop coming as a paid addon

    OTOH I wouldnt mind selecting and paying only for features that I use
    Think of it this way: A Windows 8 DVD shipped at a nominal cost or freely/low cost downloadable
    Contains only the bare minimal OS
    You can then pay for the stuff you want
    Want Metro, pay for it
    Want the games (Minesweeper,etc)? pay for them,etc..
    During installation you just select the stuff you want and pay via a credit card accordingly
