    Ours doesnt even do that

    Reason that it is being discussed and is in court is good enough for not making it succeed. Courts in India have been much closer to western idea of individual freedom, so I hope that it would not get much further than govt. idea of getting cheap shot at conservative idea of censoring what it does not like.

    The High Court has already given its go-ahead for the prosecution
    Thats bad enough

    But what do you do when a majority of the citizens ASK the govt.(by rioting and destroying public property ) to be a "Big Brother" and make sure only U rated content is available everywhere: books,news,TV,Internet,etc?

    Doesnt magnet require clients to communicate with each other using DHT?
    Whats stopping the ISP's from blocking DHT itself, atleast this way they have to block individual sites
    If everything went magnet they can wipe it all out by just blocking DHT

    More than that, internet penetration and awareness is not high enough to form a vocal majority against such acts

    Ah.. well, knew about the U2711 and 3011, but those prices are prohibitive for most people
    The others I didnt know about, but 20k EUR is a LOT for a monitor

    Most screens are lower resolution than the photo clicked by a digicam
    1920*1080 which is the highest consumer resolution available is around 2MP
    2560*1600 which is the highest resolution available for individual displays in the market is around 4MP

    A telecom operator here in India decided to price calls based on the congestion on a particular tower
    Basically, there was a base rate, which was at par with other operators, and if you made a call from a less congested tower, you would have a discounted call rate.
    Perhaps something like this should be tried for data as well?

    But I am not sure how that would work for bandwidth usage distribution. Not saying it doesn't, but I don't see an intuitive explanation.

    If you have always used an unlimited connection, you are going to use a lot more data than someone who has used only a low speed capped connection
    As a side effect you know of ways of consuming bandwidth (streaming videos,game downloads,etc) which the other person doesnt
    Thus,being on the top makes it easier for you to stay on top

    There's vast costs that the general public not only doesn't see, they're barely aware even exist - things like proofreading, editing, marketing - over and above the basic print and distribute bits that we all know about

    Not valid as the books are usually available at 10% of the price developed countries pay in developing countries
    Usually slightly thinner paper and monochrome printing, but thats acceptable for academic use

    Most PC's last 3-5 years without getting outdated atleast unless you are gaming or doing scientific work

    Most consumer Hardware and software is compatible with it
    It was being shipped with netbooks till sometime in 2010 IIRC
    For something like an OS, the bigger question is "Why change"
    The generic consumer doesnt care about security updates

    When the phones were sold, the carriers would have used the future earnings from these phones to offset the initial discount.
    Now they cannot make that money
    Somewhat unfair isnt it?
