    No, it would not. It could be shown that Apple could or should have known that could happen and design the phone to not work with such chargers.

    The liability might be split between the maker of the charger and the maker of the phone, or both could be liable.

    Sooner or later a case goes to trial, a judgement is rendered and the appeals process is over, at which point paying is required.

    You absolutely could sue the makers of the circuit breakers. Winning would be up to a court, but you would have standing to sue.

    A lot of people posting here need to look up Subrogation and learn something about what State Farm is doing.

    They paid out and are now looking to recover their payment, this is something they are allowed to do and is normal under the law.

    The policy holder is part of the suit because your insurance company requires it. If you have insurance and it pays you on a claim, you are agreeing to help sue anyone they want to go after to recover the money.

    Apple has the same concerns, if State Farm wins, they can ask for their reasonable legal costs on top of the $75K.

    State Farm isn't as rich as Apple, but they are rich enough to go after this.

    I highly, highly doubt most of the actual women on AM were really into "free sex"...

    Some were, perhaps, but they can find that without going to a web site...

    More were looking for "stuff" in return for sex... it may not be money, plenty of girls tell themselves they are "good girls" because it isn't cash, but fancy dinner, trips, jewelry, etc. are the same thing...

    Plenty of "pretty enough" young women are "happy enough" to provide sex to older men in exchange for "stuff and/or money".

    Frankly, I think it is absurd that fucking is legal and selling is legal, but that selling fucking isn't legal... (RIP George Carlin)

    And I'm a right wing God fearing gun carrying Texas conservative, but I don't think I should be telling willing adults what to do with their bodies or private lives.

    And yes, I support gay marriage, even if I think they are weird, because it isn't any of my business.

    Too many people have a childish notion of big problems in that they want there to be a "perfect" solution that doesn't involve any bad.

    We all have this power. If someone says something racist to you at a bar, you can record him and publish it with his real name on the youtubes. But should you?

    You can do that...

    But what you CANNOT do is to record him and tell him "if you don't do what I want, I'll post it."

    That is blackmail and is a very serious crime...
