    Convenient that he mentioned neither republicans nor democrats.

    Conservative simply means to preserve the status quo, American Democrats are just about as conservative as the Republicans, so that's why there is a 50/50 split.

    If the Democrats where as 'leftist' or 'liberal' as is usually spouted around on the intarwebs then no sane democrat would like to be seen near this group.

    that's true, but they weren't necessarily proprietary.

    Jpeg is a nice example of something that started out open, so is HTML.

    MP3 is a nice one of something that started out as proprietary (it still is, technically).

    I didn't realize google announces their new products on ./, I thought they had a homepage of their own, which draws significantly more traffic. If google would draw some attention to the stuff they launch on their own homepage then it might actually work.

    It would also help if the service wouldn't suck, but that's another matter, that would serve to keep the people once they've found it.

    he said 'but 9', indeed. But that doesn't mean that it really beat all those linux boxes, what it means is that the CPUs in this cluster outperformed the CPUs in those other clusters, most likely because there are more of them / different configurations so the benchmark came out different.

    If you really want to do any kind of meaningful comparison then you should run different OS/s on the same hardware while running the same benchmark, this will give you an indication of os overhead. As it stands it doesn't say anything whatsoever about the performance of windows HPC itself.

    not sure if you're serious or not, but the answer is 'no' for the 'normal' version, there is a cluster version of mysql, probably not supported on windows hpc at this time.
